I got the Boa because I was looking for a big biner to use as for belay. I wanted a big biner for those times when your belay loop is getting a little crammed for space at the anchors. DMM delivers big with the boa. It elevates the belay device from the loop perfectly for me. I got the locksafe for extra security on the belay, and the operation is buttery smooth once you get used to the hand motion of opening the gate.

This is a big biner, so its a little heavy, but DMM isn't joking when it comes to using beam design in their biners. This thing has an awesome weigh/size ratio. I'll post a picture with a size comparison when I get a chance.

This carabiner is awesome for HMS's and belay devices, but thats about it. Even though it has a fairly slim profile for hooking into pro and anchors, I don't think I'd use it for much else beyond belay.

I use this as my primary belay carabiner, and it works great. Rope runs through it super smooth, and it is a huge carabiner!

Definitely would recommend this to anyone needing (or just wanting) a solid biner. AS soon as you hold it you know it's meant for heavy duty use. Would recommend getting the screwgate. The other types seem to be flimsy and have little parts that might cause a malfunction. That's just me. I'm sure BD thoroughly tests their products before releasing to market. Get them here, Backcountry.com will treat you well.

This is a confidence-inspiring locker- perfect to match with an ATC, as a master-point on a crowded anchor, or to run your top-rope through after you've created an anchor you'd hang your car on.
The thing the description and picture don't adequately convey is that this carabiner is *stout*- so stout, in fact, that it will not fit in the eye of a Gri-gri, and some chains/hangars you'll find up on the wall will not be large enough to accommodate it- or if they are, sometimes they won't accommodate anything else. This is the piece you reserve for times where overkill is exactly what you want.

Love this biner. Perfect for belaying, large loop keeps things neat and tidy.
