Built for the stars of tomorrow.
Young riders aspiring to race their way to a podium finish on the road need a bike they can depend on. Far too often, youth bikes are built with unreliable, clunky parts that leave kids frustrated, or they cater to kids only interested in park sessions and trails. Diamondback designed its Podium 700c Complete Road Bike to give aspiring road riders a machine that will keep up with their parents with quality components and a sleek design that hopes to get them hooked on cycling for life.
The Podium 700c's frame is built of 6061 aluminum, an alloy preferred throughout the industry for its ideal blend of low weight and strength. Understanding the importance of comfort when helping young athletes push themselves, Diamondback dialed-in a touch of flex to the bike's rear triangle for the sake of ride comfort. This rear triangle is matched up front with a durable, straight-blade alloy fork that offers consistent steering and a low overall weight. Diamondback includes its Equip saddle to keep kids comfortable, with plush gel handlebars that remain gender-neutral and aren't so aggressive that they'll intimidate riders just getting into the sport.
Whether they're at a circuit race or exploring on a weekend ride, young riders want a dependable drivetrain as much as adults do. Diamondback understands this, so it builds the Podium with the reliable Shimano Claris, a system that's found on entry-to-mid-range adult bikes because of its ease of use and reliability. Its 16-speeds in a wide range of ratios make sure that kids don't encounter any climbs they can't conquer with confidence — in fact, don't be surprised if they start taking the lead when the road turns up. Claris front and rear brakes also demonstrate that Diamondback wasn't willing to cut corners, especially where safety is concerned. The durable drivetrain and brake system helps ensure that young riders can grow with the Podium 700c, and it's designed to fit kids in a height range of about 4'8" to 5'1".
