Ditch the car.
Investing in a commuting bike can be tricky — after all, you know it's going to face more abuse than your regular road bike does, and you need it to be easy to navigate when you're traveling with a backpack or other gear. If you aren't sold on making a steep investment in a bike you're going to take through crowded city streets, the Diamondback Haanjo Metro Complete Bike makes an accessible, dependable companion to get you from home to work and back again.
Diamondback crafts the Haanjo Metro's frame out of 6061-T6 aluminum, a treated version of the metal with an ideal blend of lightness and strength. The frame is complemented with an Urban Disc steel fork for solid, reliable steering along bike lanes, across chip seal, and through hectic intersections. While you're navigating traffic and shouldering a pack, the Haanjo Metro's Endurance Geometry will allow you to pedal in a more relaxed position than traditional road frames, with included flat handlebars helping the cockpit feel less aggressive.
Whether your commute includes miles of rolling hills or block after block of flat roads, the Haanjo Metro's Shimano Acera one-by, nine-speed drivetrain will give you the gear ratios you need to get where you’re going more affordably than pricier drivetrains better suited to recreational road riding. For the days when you aren't riding under cloudless, sunny skies, Diamondback built the Haanjo Metro with Tektro mechanical disc brakes to make sure you have reliable stopping power in less-than-ideal road conditions, even while laden with the extra weight of groceries or a semester's worth of text books. Paired with the 700c x 42mm tires, you end up with a bike that you won't be afraid to take out on the days most people would hop in their cars.

- Q & A
Great bike for the pricepoint
This is my first bike in 16 years and it was a fantastic investment for the price. I use it as my in-town/commute to work/bar bike. The aluminum frame feels very solid and is super light.
Since I'm not trying to be a racing champion or climb huge mountain roads or anything like that, the 1x9 gear configuration is absolutely perfect for anything that I ever do on this bike.
My only complaint is that the stock pedals that it comes with were pretty small and felt kind of cheap so I replaced them with some larger and more grippy ones.
Can't beat it
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
For the price, you can't beat this bike. DB advertises it as a do anything, gravel, light trail, commuter, etc. bike While I wouldn't take it on anything much more than a gravel/fire road, I'll admit it feels plenty sturdy. My main use is commuting, and at $700 retail there's not reason to not add it to your quiver. I live in SLC where hills are plentiful, depending on where you live. Previously I was using a single speed which was usually fine, but there are times where I A) want a lower gear going up hill or B) want a higher gear for hauling ass when it's flat. The 1x9 configuration on this has the PERFECT range of gears for where I live. The more upright position is comfortable, the disc brakes are solid and so far all of my expectations have been met. The beefier wheels are way better than my traditional 25mm single speed wheels, making me a little more confident after a few drinks. Oh, I also love the option of being able to add panniers and fenders.
