The Guide's designed to get you there in style, with a women's-specific SL Fit System that provides a comfortably carry for ladies, and a flexible, comfortable, and removable Alpine Back Suspension System. You'll appreciate the foam back pad, pivoting Vari-Flex Hip fins, X-frame aluminum stays, and padded hip belt when you're heavily loaded, but it's also super nice to be able to detach all of them when you're going out for a light and fast single-day mission.

The Guide is primarily designed for longer trips, though, with the 35L capacity to prove it. The lid also extends to provide an extra six liters of volume, while gear loops and lash points provide plenty more carrying options on heavily loaded trips. No matter how much stuff you're schlepping up the skin track, the dual top and side access points make it easy to dig stuff out of the Guide's recesses, and the easy-access shovel and probe pocket mean your crucial avy gear is always close at hand. If you're bootpacking, you can slap your skis on diagonally or A-frame style (the side loops accommodate skis up to 130mm wide), or slip your snowboard into the vertical carry straps.
