The Women's specific Deuter Freerider 22 SL Backpack fits your body better, so carrying your gear up the mountain feels almost as good as when you ski down. This bag was designed for a smaller torso with the same stellar technology Deuter uses in their other packs. Such as its two-padded foam strips molded with mesh formation for ultimate carrying comfort. This design provides stability while promoting breathability with foam created into a chimney like construction. Ski and snowboarding attachments make the Freerider optimal for touring and freeriding. Front panel access, compression straps, and hydration compatibility keep all the other details covered so you can hit the slopes happily.

Bottom Line: Here's one for the ladies.

Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

This is a great backpack. I am small(5'3")and needed something proportioned to my small frame. It fits like a dream. I crammed it full of gear and it was perfect. Never felt uncomfortable or out of balance. Great backpack!

Question about the hydration system on this pack. Does the tube/nipple

Question about the hydration system on this pack. Does the tube/nipple zip into the shoulder strap so that it's kept warm and doesn't freeze? Or is there some other mechanism for keeping the tube/nipple warm?

Does not zip into the shoulder straps, and that means that it will be very hard to keep it from freezing in cold temps. You would need a insulator sleeve to put on the bladder hose, but still wouldn't have the ability to use it in cold cold temps.

Great Fit

Have yet to use this pack for skiing but have utilized it for a few summer hikes. The space, compartments and pockets are great, although not the best for summer b/c the mesh back rubs on your bare skin too much. The fit is perfect for most wmns' bodies, and seems to adjust from petite to broader shoulders just fine. This an ideal ski pack and very excited to have it this fall, winter & spring!

Does anyone know whether this pack can carry skis in an A frame, and whether this pack or the women's Ortovox Free Rider Pack has a shorter torso length?

This can carry skis with the side compression straps in the A-Frame style. The Deuter has dimensions: 20 x 11 x 6 in. and the Orthovox has 30 x 53 x 24 cm.

This backpack was recommended to me by one of the gals on the chat line. It is an AWESOME backpack! It fits my assesories and extra clothes that I need to take when I go out snowshoeing and still have extra room. You can also strap your snow shoes onto the outside. It fits my short torso very comfortably. I'm very happy with this backpack!
