The Deuter AC Lite 20 Backpack fits the bill for backpackers and day hikers who don’t want a lot of bells and whistles to interfere with their time on the trail. Though it only weighs two pounds, this pack comfortably carries 15-pounds of gear without a worry. Two side pockets give you a place to stash snacks within easy reach, and Deuter added an Air Comfort back panel for extra ventilation in hot weather.

Bottom Line: Keep it simple.

Structured and Light

This is a nice, relatively light day pack with a bit of structure to support the load. The back panel seems it will do a good job of keeping your back a bit cooler and drier. (I did not get the opportunity to hike strenuously in heat with it.) I'm partial to top loading packs with a lid, so this fits the bill. The side mesh pockets are perfect for water bottles (and there's also an internal sleeve for a hydration reservoir to be added separately) and there's a zippered pocket on top of the lid for easy access to the little things. The back felt a bit overly curved at the waist, but perhaps it takes a bit of getting used to. All in all, this is a nice pack and relatively light. Personally I prefer the Osprey Stratos packs. They are about $10 more and slightly heavier, but I'm willing to give up a little more money and weight savings for the more substantial suspension and a few more features (like hip belt pockets). That comes down to personal preference though, and this is certainly a really nice pack .

Good bag, light weight, comfortable and has a lot of space for the goods. Doesn't come with a hydration bladder. Its good for those mild hikes. I'll be using this bag plenty. good for hikes 12 miles or below.

Awesome Bag

This bag is sweet with its simplicity and space to hold my junk. I took this hiking and mountain biking at Moab. It doesnt have the hydration bladder but I could stick my own in if I wanted. It has a waterproof sleeve to cover the pack if needed. The back panel is extremely nice for keeping the pack directly off the back and giving plenty of ventilation for the hot weather. Lightweight and perfect for day hikes.
