Deuter AC Lite 18 pack

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Hi ! what a nice pack this is ! . I was looking for a lite and comfy pack to use on 40 plus mile bike adventures ( on and off road ) and day hikes . This pack is great , lots of room , very cool on hot day rides , no pressure points or discomfort . I use a osprey raptor 10 for most of my mtb rides , the Deuter pack is just better . YES i would recommend this pack.

Needs A Better Hip Belt

This pack is great in every way except for the hip belt. Its just a thin strap, which I personally don't like. I love the color of this pack and the one large storage compartment. The hood is nice to flip over and has two small zip pockets to store smaller items for easy access.

This would be a perfect pack if it had a larger hip belt.

    Excellent Backpack

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Durable, comfortable (extremely!), lightweight, and stylish. The backpack has enough room to take a 1-2 day adventure, with ease. Moreover, the rain cover is solid! I use it for both school and play. Don't hesitate...just buy it.

    Fantastic day pack

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

This is my main day pack. It's only 18 liters, but that's usually enough for a day pack in fairly constant weather so you don't have to carry much change of clothes. But despite the small size, it has a full suspended mesh back, which makes this a winner. I don't think many backpack manufacturers make this small backpacks with a suspended mesh back. It does make the pack a little heavier and the curved back may make it a little less roomy, but these are good compromises for the extra airflow. I also like the clean and uncluttered exterior design of the pack.

One drawback is the trekking pole attachment. The top attachment point is part of the lid which means your trekking poles may come loose if you open the lid. There is also attachment on one side so you'll have to have both poles on the same side. In my experience most packs go for a symmetrical point system with one pole on each side.

Deuter is a quality German backpack manufacturer, if not one of the best. I'll definitely be buying Deuter again.

    Lite and versatile!

Having had NF and Osprey packs, I thought I'd give this Deuter 18 a try. Used it on my day hikes around the wasatch mountains, my daily 12 mile commute into work (year round), and on my flights across the US. Over the course of a year, I figured just over 20k miles on my pack and it's looking just like new still! It's great in high temps with the empty air back mesh and the straps are in just the right place. I'm 6'2" 165 and the thing fits me like a glove. The materials are super high quality. It truly is a super versatile all-around pack.

I'm 5'2" and wondering if this bag would be too big and uncomfortable on me. I'm just looking for a nice and sturdy backpack to go on a day hike.
