Hovering well above the competition.
DeFeet's latest addition to its All-Mountain category is known as the Levitator Trail. Designed with subtle padding and a tall cuff, the Levitator Trail 6-inch Socks are perfect for keeping your feet comfortable and supported during all of your trail rides, adventure tours, and gravel adventures.
DeFeet constructed the Levitator Trail socks using the CoolMax EcoMade fabric, which is composed of fibers derived from recycled water bottles. According to DeFeet, it takes about three bottles to make a single pair of socks. This material was chosen for its exceptional moisture management properties and breathable composition.
At the toes, DeFeet constructed the Levitators with a padded toe box in order to provide a light layer of cushioning while pedaling. Along these lines, DeFeet's "pedal pad" is a cushioned section directly above the pedal axle, which provides additional vibration dampening while riding over rough terrain. The proven Aireator mesh weave was applied to the instep zone, furthering the Levitators' overall ventilation.
Finishing off the Levitators is DeFeet's Exoskeleton knitting technology that places the socks' nylon to the outer-surface for durability. This leaves the soft CoolMax material next to the skin for accelerated wicking and added comfort. The six-inch ribbed cuff keeps the socks securely in place, while also providing a little added lower leg coverage.
The DeFeet Levitator Trail 6-inch Socks are available in four sizes from Small to X-Large and in the colors Black/graphite, Black/process blue, Black/hi-vis yellow, and Graphite/black. All DeFeet socks are made in the USA.

- Q & A
Too thick for summer
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: L
I picked these up to try as an alternative to my Smartwool MTB socks, since they sounded like they'd be taller (a bit more pedal bite protection on my shin) and cooler. Well, they're marginally taller, but significantly thicker, especially under the toe. The extra padding under the toe is so thick that on long rides, my toes started to go numb because the extra thickness plus normal foot swelling cut off circulation. The overall thickness is much too warm for a summer sock as well. Back to Smartwool for me.
