De Marchi's Gara Jacket for women fits more like a jersey than a proper jacket, making it a race-worthy addition to any cold-weather cycling wardrobe. The Roubaix fabric has a brushed interior for warmth, wicking, and breathability, because staying dry is as important to staying warm as keeping the frigid air off your skin. It's also equal to protect against mild winter winds, if not full-blown gales. De Marchi updates the standard complement of three rear pockets with an additional rear zippered pocket, an arm pocket, and internal media cord routing. The aesthetics are classic De Marchi, though: elegantly simple and timelessly stylish.

- Fit: Runs large
I'd call the Gara more of a thermal jersey than a jacket, but names aside, it's a beautiful piece. The actually jersey is a much brighter, richer red than the photo shows, and the soft microfiber feels great while riding. I really appreciate De Marchi's use of classy, simple aesthetics throughout its line — a welcome break from swirls and bright patterns. I used this throughout the fall while riding through temps into the low 40's, at first without a base layer and later with one, and its roomier cut was great for layering. It's tailored well, but has more of a club fit, so if you order your normal size, you'll still have plenty of room for layering. Thoughtful touches like the large zipper loop and the wide reflective pocket band grabbing food and adjusting the zipper so much easier, and the drop hem in the back is nice for keeping the jersey in place while I'm riding.
