Plagued with too much space around your foot and not enough at your leg? Maybe it's the other way around and you have a skinny leg and wide foot. The DC Men's Judge Snowboard Boot found other boots guilty of being incapable of giving the option to tighten the upper and lower zones separately. Then the Judge sentenced the inferior foot-killers to death and used the cables to execute those boots the old fashioned way; hangin'.
Boa Focus dual-zone cable system gives you the ability to separately tighten/loosen the upper and lower zones for the most 'dialed-in' fit
Bravo liner features the Outlast heat-regulating lining underfoot, ankle-holding J-bars, anatomical support beams, and a power strap for superior performance and comfort
Internal ankle harness wraps the liner to locks your foot and ankle to the boot for the most precise response
Articulated cuff allows unrestricted flex without the boot 'bulging' at the hinge creating excess space around your ankle
Welded backstay of shell saves your leg when you land in the backseat and won't wash-out when you hit the gas and go fast
Unilite outsole is a soft rubber, low-profile design for maximum cushion for killing it all over the mountain
Bottom Line: The Judge is jury, executioner, and bringer of comfort back to snowboarding.
I took them out of the box, and the first time I put them on one of the pull tabs ripped off ... three days later one of the ratchets on the boot ripped out.

Man, I hated tugging on frozen laces, trying to snug up boots that, let's face it, are just going to loosen themselves up. Entropy.
So I figured I can keep on doing that like a caveman striking two flints together, or I could get myself a Zippo. A grunting yank with icy fingers, or a twist of a sexy knurled knob that winches up superfine aerospace-grade steel cables to harness my dogs? Hmmm. I have boney ankles, too, always had heel lift with every boot I've owned, but the Judge's air bladder fills everything out perfectly. Instant custom fit. Angels started singing, son.
Other stuff: well-insulated, all-day comfortable, space for hand warmers in the insole. I ride all mountain and the Judge is stiff enough, can't speak to the boot's park-worthiness. Styling? Function is form, bizzitches, but they make 'em in 'colorways' and all that steez for girls, and boys who want to look like one.
No, seriously, bring whatever style you want. Love you kids.
DC Judge: really well-designed, super cozy, wouldn't ride anything else. Along with Gnu Mutant Fastec bindings I feel like this is the best you can do re: interface between flesh and plank. State of the art.

I tried on a myriad of boots from all brands before choosing the Judges. They insole is quite comfortable while being supportive and the boa system works like a charm.
After a full season shredding, they have started to pack out a little bit, and the heel lift is becoming more apparent. Also, I have never had problems with getting cold feet/toes until I started using these boots.
All in all, a well made and comfortable boot with some shortcomings.
My first boa boots, and DC I might add. So outta the box the boot is easy to put on, the boa system works like a champ, really easy to get a good fit. I did have to readjust all my bindings to fit the boot, its got a LOW profile and quite narrow! My Burton Customs do not fit them at all! ok but!! they ride awesome! the stiff sole works amazing for hiking, just pop the boa and you got some good flex on the ascent. ONE DESIGN FLAW, so taking the boot off is rough! pulling some slack in the lower (toe) boa is impossible with gloves on, wet hands or in a hurry. if a simple "tab" were added this boot would be flawless.
after 60 days the boa system slightly locked up on the lower portion of one boot. Boa Technologies will send ALL replacement parts for free. the inconvenience was a drag but I'd rather fix something than return it. great boot. Works great for touring, just pop the ankle release and get your climb on
The first thing I noticed about the DC Judge snowboard boots were how light they were. The duel Boa system dialed in a comfortable yet firm fit. The connection to my board felt new and fully responsive. The insulation is a bit thin but was easily fixed with boot warmer packs under my toes. The boots are new so I cannot comment on the wear. In sum, they are light and the feel is better than any boot I've ever worn in the past 15 yrs I've been riding. I am very pleased.
I think for the right feet these are great boots. For me, they just did not fit right. My Salomon F20 & F22 boots are size 6.5. I got the Judge in 7 and too tight (my toes were bunched up). 7.5, again too tight. Size 8, and way too big. I tried changing the insole and not better. I just think for my feet, they didn't work out. Quality seems very good and I love the boa system.
I'm adding this to my review...
I really liked the boa concept, etc. so I got the K2 Thraxis. As I suspected, they fit fine, so that confirms that the DC boots were just not right for my feet. It has nothing to do with the boa system.
BOA lace system makes sense! But if you're getting a pair, it makes more sense to get a double BOA and this is the boot to go for. It's got a good cushion which makes it comfortable and with the adjustment freedom that you have with these pairs, you can use it for All Mountain or Park. If you want more control, you can tighten up the upper zone or loosen it up to make it less stiff. I LOVE THESE BOOT!!! The one and only dissapointment I have is the design. Like the 2009 model, The Black and White/Armor version is just too plain looking. Although the Black/Lapis version has a little bit of color, it's still not at par. At least not to me personally. It just looks cheap. But hey, the performance isn't based on the design. These boots are one of the best pairs ever made. I love the 2008 design and I wish DC kept it that way if they couldn't make it any better. I received a lot of compliments on them when I had it. Oh, I was rockin' it! So if you don't care about the look (since the boot will be covered up with your pants anyway), and you want a good performing and comfortable boot, get these!!! By the way, BOA claims that the laces are stronger than a tank armor and to back up that claim, they guarantee the reel and laces for the lifetime of the product. All you have to do is go to their website and proceed with the process.
Every boot I've ever had has been too tight on the top of my feet while fitting properly everywhere else. Having the two separate tighten zones was a lifesaver. Love this boot.
I took them out of the box, and the first time I put them on one of the pull tabs ripped off ... three days later one of the ratchets on the boot ripped more...
