And you thought the only good thing to come from Vermont was delicious syrup and hippie-made ice cream. The Darn Tough Women's Merino Wool Shortcake Ultra-Light Ski Sock proves that insanely comfortable socks also come from the Green Mountain State. This ultra-light ski sock features True Seamless construction for a comfortable fit without scratchy, irritation-causing seams. Thin and Tough--How I Like It
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
Many socks these days shout "light-weight" on the label but have enough padding to fill a bathtub. If you're looking for a truly tough, durable, longer lasting, but thin sock through and through, this is it. Keep your focus on Darn-Tough's "Ultra-Light" socks and you'll ditch any extra padding, which includes no particular toe or heel cushion. That doesn't mean that the sock doesn't map the foot with just the right heel pocket that cups oh-so well, or a stubborn foot hugging weave that fits like Cinderella's slipper, because this does. I size my ski boots like a glove which means just the right fit without any unnecessary or unwanted wiggle room---direct power transmission is what I'm after, and that means just the right amount of space for a thin, but warm, ski sock, and no more. Why so much attention to a SOCK? Because the wrong one has way too much power to ruin a great day on the hill...feet that tingle or go prematurely cold due to the wrong sock just isn't right.
