Well I felt a little foolish dropping forty bones for two pairs of socks, but at the rate I wear through smartwool I figured I'd see what all the rage is about. I picked up these thin guys for my race boots and the thick padded ones for touring. So far, so good. Not noticeably warmer/drier than my other favorite socks, but I can tell they are quality. If they last multiple seasons the value is there and at this point I see no reason why they shouldn't.
Excellent

Never have had a complaint against Darn Tough. They make amazing socks. With the over the calf ski sock here, you get coverage for your lower leg, arch support, comfort, and (why not?) simple style. The best part, if you find out the sock isn't what you thought or if it somehow wears out, you've got Darn Tough's Lifetime Warranty. What's not to like?

These are great socks. They're so light, but really warm. I'm an East Coast guy so it's nice to have something so good locally made in Vermont. By the way I bought two pair for my son and he loves them too.

Got a few pair back in 2006 and they are still going strong after several hundred days of skiing. They are just starting to show (minor) wear after 3 full ski seasons. These are the best ski sock made hands down.

These are my new favorite ski socks. I had a pair a few years ago and lost them. After a couple year using Smartwool and other brands, I decided to come back to these. I'm about 45 ski days in on them and they're showing no signs of wear. Can't ask for much more.
Need to get more

These socks are amazing. After hours of skiing my feet stayed dry and smell free, a feat not possible with just any sock. The thinness kept my feet warm while giving me that extra bit of performance that I personally believe larger socks take away from. I absolutely love these socks and look forward to buying some more.

I've got a pair of the Darn Tough Nordic socks (http://www.backcountry.com/outdoorgear/Darn-Tough-Merino-Wool-Nordic-Boot-Ultra-Light-Ski-Sock/DRN0003M.html) and these look pretty similar. But I'm wondering if these are ok for nordic skiing? Sometimes, I like to have a longer sock on.

Nordic skiing in these should be no problem at all.

you know that ONE pair of ski socks, the ones you reach for first? These are those socks. No complaints, except for the fact that BC.com isn't presently stocking large.

Gave these as a gift for my husband. Overall he likes them, they keep his feet dry and warm, but he does complain that they are a little tight. He wears them when we snowshoe, and he works up a good sweat, but his feet stay dry. :)

I just really like Darn Tough merino socks. They are slowly replacing my other socks in the drawer. I'll probably buy another pair when some of my older socks die, too. Thin, lightweight socks are the bee's knees for skiing in a performance-fit boot.

ok so they are great for hiking or anything else you might need a thick sock for but I don't like them in my ski boot they are to coushie and there for abrasive with heavy use on the inside, I am going to stick with the Smartwool for skiing, but I will use these for every thing else.

do these fit pretty true to size? i'm a size 12 boot/shoe and am wondering if i should grab these in a size L (9-11.5) or an XL (12+)... i know the size charts tells me to get an XL but i'm afraid that since i'm right on the border between size, the XL might stretch too big after a few uses and washes, and eventually bunch up inside my snowboard boot and become too loose... any fit info from Darn Tough sock users out there would be appreciated.

you were right when you said they'd stretch beyond your foot size. Scale down for a premium fit.

Found these last year and had one pair. Wore them every day, sometimes five days without washing them, I know, thats gross. They never got stinky or stiff. They still look like they did wen I first wore them. Not sure what makes them so good but buying a few more for this season.
I dig them

These are good socks. I like to own alot of ski socks, you can't have too many. These are moving their way up my list of favorite ski socks, who knows..they may soon become my favorite. The wool sees to be higher quality than some wools I have seen on socks.

I really like these socks and would highly recommend them! They allow me to feel my skis easily and there is no rubbing or pinching. They wash and wear well and the fit is as advertised.
Darn tough they're comfy!

Putting on a pair of socks for the first time is never really too exciting but the first time I put these Darn Tough's on I was pretty stoked! They are very comfortable and contoured to the shape of the foot. Also they are pretty warm for not being a thick, bulky sock and seem to breath well.
