    Get Them Love Them

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

Not much to say but they are very comfortable and they will last for many years to come. I wear winter socks a lot through the winter and the heel in other socks always give out before Darn Tough.

    Tough Lavishness

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

Bought a pair of these for my stepdad in an effort to convince him of the major difference between wearing cheap socks and wearing these moisture-wicking babies. He hunts and works as a carpenter, and these socks have exceeded his expectations. Now he always tries to figure out how he can goad me into getting him more! They're super odor resistant and way comfy. If you want a warm weather version, check out the Coolmax style.

    My go to socks

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I hate spending money on socks and having to purchase new pairs frequently just sucks. The high stitch count on Darn Tough's socks are designed to last long, help with support, breathe well and provide fantastic comfort. These socks are the socks you want whether you are going on a long treck, or a short hike. Heck, even sitting around at home! Don't believe me? Try a pair, you won't regret it! I'm a size 11.5 and I wear Large. -These socks also don't peel like most merino wool socks do!

I have been wearing and abusing these socks for years. They don't wear out. I have started walking around in the driveway to try to wear them out so I can buy more. They are super comfortable and wear well. I'm an 11.0 and the large fits great.

Exactly what I look for in a boot sock

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

    • Size Bought: Large

They stay up all day, they're cushioned adequately in the correct places, they breathe excellent, they're lightweight, and there are no seams to give me hotspots. The quick and dirty of it is: these are an all around wonderfully designed sock. They fit true and I love wearing them during activity or even just lounging around my my in-law's cabin!

    Merino Wool is King

Merino Wool, I absolutely swear by it. I am currently in the process of replacing all of my cotton socks with merino wool socks and these are some of the best I have found. I wear a size 11.5 boot and bought these in size large. They fit great and don't have the tendency to ride down and bunch up after wearing all day. I wear them hiking, fishing, and to work. Great all around sock.
ps. They are naturally anti microbial and don't stink even after wearing a couple days.

    Great hiking & dress socks

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

    • Size Bought: Large

For me, they fit snug but not too tight; they don't bunch up. Colors are awesome. Pulls up as high as a crew, about 1/3 up my shin. The merino wool feels great; not too hot & my feet don't get too cold. Great all around sock. I've had them for 3 months since October, so not sure if they'll be too hot in the summer here in Southern IL. Seem very tough, but I did wear a pair in my Muck boots, hiked a couple miles, and they (the socks) frayed some on both heels.

Darn Tough makes my favorite hiking socks, hands down. I hiked the JMT with a pair of Darn Tough's and a pair of REI socks, and I wound up only wearing my REI socks when my Darn Tough's weren't dry. The amount of cushioning is PERFECT. I wore them with Salomon trail runners on the JMT and the socks weren't too thick, and I didn't get any blisters! In cold weather and wet conditions, I cycle in these Darn Tough's too. They keep my feet warm and dry! Can't express enough love for these socks. I recommend them to everyone.

    I wear a women's size 7 and purchased a small - fit perfectly.

    Best Sock Ever

My dad has to wear steel toe work boots all day everyday and has the stinkiest feet on the planet. The moisture wicking in these sock are awesome he no longer clears the room when he gets home from work and takes off his boots. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!!

    Best socks ever made

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I have put these socks through the wringer. They are literally the best socks that I have ever owned. I wear them for all purposes from Trail running to wet wading to canyoneering. These things have help up and still look new! I don't know how they do it but Darn Tough has figured it out!

    First pair

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

This is my first pair of Darn Tough socks and I love them. Normally I have been using smartwool but now that I tried these out I have another brand of socks that I will vouch for and use for any type of outdoor hiking or working environments. If you want a pair that provides great amount of cushion and comfort definitely check these out.

    Awesome socks

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: medium

Yep, they are as good as everyone says they are. Bought 3 pair and love 'em. I wear a size 9.5 shoe and the mediums were perfect. Washed/dryed them inside out like recommended and they did not shrink. Go ahead and buy your last pair of socks!

    Just enough Cushion

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

These are wonderful socks to hike in. I normally don't like a lot of cushion in my socks because I have a really big foot but There's just enough in these to provide some added comfort without taking up too much space in my boot. They do get a little bit sweaty but I believe that is due to the Gore-tex membrane in my boots, which can inhibit breathability.

    Built for ww2 conditions

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

These socks could theoretically be worn everyday and in almost any conditions. They are thick, cushioned, nicely elasticized, and the perfect height in my opinion. Many soldiers in WW2 struggled with not having proper socks that could be dried and worn again day after day. These would be pretty great candidates.

I brought one pair of them on my 2 month trip to Central America and wore them for all the hikes i did and when the weather was chillier at high elevations. I washed them once in a sink. Never did i get complaints about them smelling and they didn't show any signs of wear. If you need one sock to do it all, this would be a great option.

    Best socks for hiking!

Its amazing how much difference a sock can make - but the first time I hiked with Darn Tough socks it was apparent that they do. These always feel great, resist odor for backpacking trips, and simply make whatever shoe Im wearing feel that much more comfortable. I never hike without them now and am starting to wear them more and more for daily use as well. On top of that they last forever so the slightly high price point is justified. Buy a few pairs if youre not yet indoctrinated. You wont be disappointed!

      Only Socks I Wear

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I tried finding the most comfortable sock for hiking and casual use about four years ago which meant I bought one or two pairs of Lorpen, Smart Wool, Wigwam, Darn Tough and a few other brands. After trying the different socks for a few weeks, it was very clear there was only one brand that stood out. Since then, I have bought close to fifty pairs of Darn Tough socks for different activities and purposes and would not buy anything else. I still have the original pair that I bought and they are just as comfortable now as they were four years ago. Every once in a while I decide to try a different sock and always resort back to my Darn Tough socks and the new ones end up at the back of the drawer to collect dust. Do yourself a favor and buy a few pair and feel the difference. Anyone who appreciates a good pair of merino wool socks knows that you get what you pay for and these socks are no different.

I wear 9-9.5 (UK)shoes. Will medium be better or should i stick with large?I am think about 4-5 months in,they would start to loosen a bit,or thats not the case? Some Smartwool hikers i have have became a little too loose for my liking (large size).I dont mind tight after all i am kinda skinny(150 lbs).

      Hey Quake_gl

If you are ok with super tight socks then the Mediums would be a good choice however the size larges should do the trick. The compression band in both the mid and heel of the sock should help keep it's shape and prevent them from stretching out. I have a pair of these and they always become tight again after washing and I've had them for about 6 months now. I hope that this helps answer you questions and please let us know if you have any more.

      Thanks

      Jane H.
