Great Socks

I have a few pairs of these socks! I wore them while I was hiking the Appalachian Trail. Darn Tough is a good company and the socks have a lifetime warranty. I highly recommend these socks and the company!

how thick are these?

how thick are these?

Hey Sarbear,

These are a thin ultralight sock and provide just the right amount of cushion in key areas while maintaining breathability throughout.

I don't have any calipers to gauge the actual thickness of the sock and Darn Tough doesn't provide that spec so if you are looking for an physical measurement rather than a generalization I do apologize.

Great Socks, Wrong Size

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I love these socks, but I totally mixed up the sizing. I wear a 7.5/8 women's shoe and should have ordered a Small instead of a Medium, sadly they don't have any in stock right now.

worth the price will outlast others

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

bought these as a gift for a trail -runner friend. the price was a bit more than some other brands that i considered for this activity.
the reason i was willing to spend more was that my friend complained his other socks were lasting a 1/2 marathon and then there were holes in the heels. these socks have made it through three 1/2 marathons so far and no holes so far! i think this makes the price well worth it. the mesh worked well and no heat blisters at all.

Great Socks

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

These socks work great for both riding and running. I did the Lake Placid Ironman bike and run sections in these socks and they worked great.

Hey there! Thanks for your question, I can't find the exact weight of these socks but they are listed in Darn Tough's ultra-light category. Hope this helps!

Relatively thin sock

I used to love Darn Tough, but lately the merino wool versions have disappointed me. This mesh running sock is fairly light and at least for me, isn't showing some of the same wear problems I have had with the merino wool socks. But, I'm holding back my enthusiasm a bit. On the good side, I have had no problems with bunching and I never get blisters in these. I've primarily used them in shorter outings of 10 miles or less.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've used this model exclusively for about 15 moderate distance hikes (400-600 miles) over the past ten years. No blisters, durable, dries fast, and the mesh weave doesn't get damp and clammy in warm weather like thicker socks get. I don't wear them around town because they are too expensive, but for long hikes they are essential.

My feet are walking in heaven!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I finally decided to make the investment to buy 7 pairs of these socks at $16 per pair. The sticker price of these socks is steep but I must say they are the BEST socks ever. They wear incredibly well. I also just finished a half marathon and my feet feel great. No blisters or hot spots. These are socks that will hold up very long especially if you wash them inside out like instructed. Simply put... these are the BEST socks money can buy.
