Lupo Factory Ski Boot

Light on weight and heavy on freeride performance, the Lupo Factory Ski Boot is Dalbello's masterpiece for backcountry touring. It's almost impossible to achieve such a stiff flex of 130 and still maintain an ultralight weight of four pounds per boot. Equally impossible is having such a light weight and allow a massive 67-degree cuff rotation for skinning, hiking, and booting, but Dalbello achieved that as well. What's it secret you wonder? Three words: removable carbon tongue.

Like all Dalbello's top models, the Lubo Factory Ski Boot features a Cabrio construction that uses three separate pieces (tongue, cuff, shell) to give the boot a smoother power transmission, a dynamic rebound, and excellent shock absorption. The shell also features Dalbello's wide Cuff Hyperband buckle that offers more comfort and less friction, while the inverted forefoot buckle prevents breaking and bending.

Inside the boot, Dalbello inserted a thermo-moldable ID Max Hike liner that conforms to your foot after a heating process. This Hike version is lighter and flexible for easier booting. Underfoot, the boot's Xtra Grip rubber toe stays solid when you encounter icy ridges, and you can interchange them with alpine DIN or touring soles for versatility in or out of the resort. That sounds sort of odd, skiing in superlight backcountry boots, but again, this boot is an absolute masterpiece that you'll want wherever you ride.

Work of Art

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:
26.5
Height:
5' 8"
Weight:
160

Aesthetics: The carbon cuff alone just makes me want to never wear them and store these on the shelf just for viewing. The quality of the carbon cuff and how its pattern glimmers in the light is mesmerizing. Truly a work of art from Dalbello. I'm even contemplating on buying a second pair just to have because of the fear of discontinuation, and to also have them on my display right in my bedroom! Fit and Feel: These boots had the least ankle pressure out of everything I tired on in this category of boot. The Hoji free tours were miserable and the Scarpa XT's were just as close. My foot has a perfect 98mm last and these boots fit like a glove with absolutely no work done. I also got custom carbon footbeds which makes this boot feel even more amazing. The liners are actually real Intuition liners and Dalbello pays Intuition more just to have their logo nonexistent on the liner. No creasing, really smooth inside and clean molding around the ankle. I will consider a pair of zipfits once the originals pack out since these boots are staying with me for a while. The boot stiffness and how light it feels has to be the stiffest/lightest ratio ever. The removable tounge is genius and also makes it feel even lighter. The sinch strap on top is exactly like a power strap, you can crank it down extremely tight. The flex progressivity on the cabrio design has the best feel and response in my opinion. I may play around with softer flexes for more forgiveness because these are STIFF! The back carbon cuff is terrifying when you think of possible back seats scenarios. This boot feels like a rocket ship. Exquisite execution on Dalbello's part. Looking forward to many resort and backcountry days on these.

Absolute Charger, with great mobility

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:
26.5
Height:

I have a pair of these boots as my switch hitter for side country and inbound days. They are perfect for those who are looking to have a boot that is burly on the descent but also appreciates the option for good mobility for longer uphills. You can remove the tongue for the tour up and the range of motion on this boot is amazing, no blisters, no issues - get to the top and drop the tongue in and you get alllll of the 130 flex - especially with the carbon cuff. Amazing value for great stiff progressive flex and range of motion - works perfectly with my shift bindings, as well as my Armada STH2's.
