A good moderate mitten.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I say moderate for two reasons. They are not the warmest when you dip into 20 and below temps. Also, if its above 34ish and you've got wetter snow, they are not the driest either. For those reasons they are my "goldie locks" mitten. Perks are a nice and high snow cuff that does a great job. You also have the nice microsuede exterior on the thumb to take care of a runny nose or even wipe any snow or water drops off your goggle lens. I've had my pair (pre glove liner) for 2 years now. I upgraded some time ago to a aftermarket glove liner just so I can use my fingers on the lift while keeping them covered from the elements. They dry fast and have held up for two years now. No tears or failures.

I hear the liner has been changed from a mitten liner to a glove. Is that true?

Responded on

Yes they did. I have the mitten liner version but upgraded to glove liner myself. If they made the change with the newest version, I'd say pounce on it.

Not as good as they used to be...

  • Gender: Male

I bought a pair of the Titan mittens 2 years ago. Great price for a Gore-Tex liner mitten. My fingers get a little chilly up here in the Northern Rockies but these mittens were the first ones to fix that. They held up good enough so I figured I would get the fresh colors for this year. When they arrived I thought they sent me the wrong liners. They switched from being a mitten liner to a normal glove liner! I'm buying a mitten so that my fingers are together to stay warm so I was not very happy to find the glove liners. Thinking about sending them back, I bought a pair of Hestra Heli mitts on SAC. Now those are some mittens!

Awesome mittens. Warm.

My hands are normally quite cold. I went boarding with these mittens in 0 Fahrenheit plus windchill and my hands were toasty warm.

Sigh.. they could have been great..

My boyfriend had these, but never used them because he thought mittens were cheesy-looking or whatever the reason. When he finally lost his gloves and had to use these last minute, it changed his mind forever. He raved on how much warmer his hands were and what a difference it was compared to gloves. Not only are the mitts insulated and GoreTex waterproof, they come with a removable mitt fleece liner. There is a goggle sqee-gee on one hand, zip pockets for hand warmers, and a little goggle wipe that comes in one of the zip pockets. Despite all those features and the cost, these barely made it through a season and by the end his mittens were wrapped in duct tape.. but they did make him a believer in mittens!

Holy Awesome Mitt, Batman

I'd never bought any snowboarding equipment online before, so I didn't know what to expect. I bought these mitts on sale, and would now likely pay the full price for them, as they are excellent build quality. The stitching on the mitts are tight and strong, and the fittings are all great. I was worried my hands would be too small for the "large" size, (I usually wear a medium) but they weren't. They fit wonderfully! Just go by the sizing chart they provide online. When I opened the package and put my hand in the gloves, I was surprised to feel soft fleece, as I thought that's what the inner liners would be for. I thought the mitts would just be a shell, but they are indeed a complete mitt, with great insulation and nice dexterity. The inner liners included are a good quality, soft fleecy goretex mitten shaped liner, with some grip on the palm. And even without using the liners, these mitts are very warm. With the liner? You're talking Mr. Heat Miser! And that is precisely what you want when you board in the awesome, yet super cold Salt Lake Mountains. I'm not worried about the cold anymore, which will make for a nice season of comfortable boarding. The mitts themselves have a nylon waterproof outer shell, including a zipper for hand-warmers (I don't think I'll ever use them), a tough grip material on the palm, a soft velvet patch for wiping your shnoz on the thumb of the right mitt, and a plastic goggle scraper on the thumb of the left mitt. The powder skirt at the end of the mitt is a thinner material for going over your jacket and cinching tight with the elastic pull tab. They thought of everything. The inside of the mitt (without the liner inside) is a medium-thick fleece insulation and is very pleasant against the skin. With the liner, your hand feels snug, supported, and very warm with the doubled amount of insulation. I LOVE everything about these gloves, and I have no doubt they will last years to come. I'm recommending them to anyone who boards (I'll let the skiers freeze).

A great mitt for high fives, and a great mitt to keep your hands warm and dry in the alpine. Nothing beats Gore-Tex

Pretty cool mitts

Got'em on SAC for half price. They appear to be well made. I needed a cheap pair and quick. These will do the trick, especially for $30. Seem a bit on the small side though. I sized up to an XL so I could layer gloves under the shell if i wanted to. I'm glad i did. they are tighter than i would have expected. also, the shells seem to have a bit of insulation in them which would be good for not so cold temps.

Awesome mittens.

these mittens are awesome!...greats mittens nice and toasty i got liners with them but i didn't need them if you sweat in them just throw them on a dryer and they will dry right up. but make sure to get them in the right size i have dakine pipe gloves in medium and they shrunk a little they still fit thought but i thought these mittens would do the same so i got them in large, there a bit big on me but there still usable.
So over all they are AWESOME.

Excellent

Great design. Very comfortable, warm, dry, and useable. Doesn't feel like you're wearing baseball mits like some of the other very bulky mittens out there. I have really poor circulation in my hands. The wrist adjustment is in the perfect place to keep the mittens on, but allow for good circulation with the ability to grip poles, and open the flask to take a little nip.

I really like the features like the "nose wipe", zipper pockets, and the liners are great with the grippy palms. I even use them driving.

My hands measured a snug 9" which is a L. I ordered the XL (as I usually do) and they fit perfect.

If you wear wrist guards unfortunately these mittons are not for you. They have a constriction at the wrist not allowing you to pass your wrist guards through even if you purchase a size larger than your normal size.

Sick Mitts

Didn't ride in super cold weather yet but they feel and look great. The 3 days with them so far have been fantastic, no complaints.

decent mitts

Used them for the first time yesterday in a big storm @ Loveland, kept hands warm(w/out liners). Temp outside was about 15 degrees. Great material......I guess any complaint would be, a little bit bigger gauntlet to go over my jacket better. Kids have a different pair of Dakine mitts....no bitchin', thats always a bonus!.......
Now a year later I can honestly say, I don't really like these mitts and are returning them. The gauntlet sux. They barely fit over any of my jackets. Also when your hands get the slightest bit of moisture on them, the liners stick to your hands. Size runs small! Xl are more like a large.

Mediocre Mittens

Lets just say if you are looking for a disposable pair of mitts by all means get these. They wouldn't last a day in the woods. The material is cheap nylon that just doesn't seem durable will rip very easily. I opened them up, tried them on, and sending them back. Very disappointed in the quality of these. Spend the extra $$ and buy the quality

Nice mitten, liner is a mitten, not a glove.

This Dakine removable liner is a mitten, just so you know your fingers will touch. Similar Burton mittens have fleecey gloves as the removable liner--which I prefer but oh well. You could use what ever liner you want with these.

It's better than good, it's gone.

These mitts rule, my 3rd pair. And for the price, wow. They are waterproof, and very warm. However, in warmer conditions they aren't unbearable, gore-tex to the rescue! Even if you do get cold they have zippers on them for inserting heat packs, and inside one of them there is even a goggle wiping cloth. If that isn't enough, they also have a soft nose wiping material the right thumb and a goggle squeegee on the left thumb. And to top it off they come with mitten style liners for extra warmth; but they're great for hiking or real warm temps too! So, to sum it up these are awesome for the price. Besides, you know you're going to stink 'em up eventually and need to buy new ones, so you don't need expensive ones.

The other review that mentions their quality might be partially true. I had the drawstring come out of one once, but warrantied it. Otherwise, they're pretty tough. I didn't bump any ski chairs, but I operated my snow blower, shoveled snow, and skied in them for 100+ days combined.

Dont do it

This are nice gloves being GTX and all.
But they will not stand up to rugged use.
The seams on the pinky finger sides of the came undone after using them from JAN to the beginning of March. Booo! They are warm and dry, but the construction is poor.

Great mitten

These mittens have held up great in the sloppy wet conditions to the cold dry powder ones. The only downfall is the liners I wish they wernt mittens as well but other then that I highly recommend these mittens

Hiya,
I too want glove liners with mitten shells--but where to find such a thing? I only know to buy them separately, but it seems someone must make a combo system.

Excelent!

Never had frosen hands with those ones and I did not even use the inside liners,,

Nice gloves!

These gloves are so warm and super waterproof! I just went boarding and it was -1 degrees outside but i didnt need to use the liners because my fingers will sweat. I would highly recommend buying these for great soft comfort, warmth and durability.
