The two layer brushed twill face fabric is waterproof and breahtable, so you'll stay warm and dry long after your buddy's inferior kit is wetted out, sending him packing back to the lodge. There's 60g synthetic insulation in the seat and knees, so that chairlift ride won't freeze you, and since it's placed just where you need it most, they won't turn into a steam room on warmer days.
