DAKINE designed the Tactic Backpack for skiers who get up for first chair and stay out until last call. This ski-only pack has enough storage for the backcountry, but isn't too big—so throw in a PB&J and ski the resort. When you're hiking, the Tactic Backpack carries your skis diagonally and has a snow tool pocket and a quick-draw ice axe/shovel handle holster to keep your safety gear close at hand. A deployable water bottle pocket and insulated Hydro-Sleeve have your H20 at the ready while side pockets are ideal for extra energy or safety meeting material.
Bottom Line: Your strategy is simple—ski pow and then beers all around.

This pack fits real nice and holds all the gear I need for a day out skiing steeps and deeps, very comfortable. The shovel handle holder is designed to slide up under one of the side pockets this works perfect for one of my shovel handles, but I also have a second shovel that has a bigger diameter handle and it will not fit. Other then that I like everything about this pack.

I bought this back when it was called the vertex for resort riding and day hikes. Since then, its been to almost every continent and has done everything from carrying beer to hauling my skis for hours at a time and I don't think it has a single frayed edge or patch of warn fabric. It's incredibly comfortable, durable, and functional, not to mention it looks good too. Only down side is that its a little small to fit everything for a safe, full day of touring.

This pack is great for takin to the mountain. The hydration sleeve is great to have on the lift so you don't have to worry about gettin out stuff out. The pack holds a lot of stuff for its size, while still keeping its shape. Definitely great for single day trips.
