Lotsa room

I have used this bag on a few trips now (mostly by air) and can't complain. Enough room for a week trip to anywhere and easy to lug around airport terminals. The clamshell design also helps you to easily find your gear.

Good for one pair of ski boots

I'm constantly looking for a bag that can carry alpine and tele boots. I tried the 60/40 convertible, but that was just too big and heavy. The bag itself was 15 pounds, good luck getting it under weight for airlines.

This bag is smaller, but still huge. Can easily be packed to exceed airline weight limits. Main compartment has one large section, but top has three total sections (1 large in the middle and 2 smaller on the outside) For skiing, boots should go in the main and clothes around.

So far, good quality, but I can see how it can wear. Only the bottom has a hard layer, but top can be turned, twisted and moved which could cause wear. We'll see what happens.

Love this Gear Bag

Dakine got the best affordable bags, this is the 5th gear bag I got, the first I got was 6 years ago. and that one is still in use.

Lifetime warranty is a lie

Decent bag, holds lots of gear. However, after 4 years of fairly light use (2 - 3 x/year) for long trips, the bottom seam gave out. Dakine says that because its been 4 years, this is "normal wear and tear" and is not covered.

Split design is convenient. Only other design complaint is that it doesn't stand up when loaded unless you are very careful to put heavy/hard items on the bottom.

Lasting Luggage

I have had my split roller since 2001 when I first took it to Alaska. It continues to go strong to this day. The dual comapartments provide ample room for all your stuff - and the separation allows you to put wet stuff in one side if you are packing up at the end of a ski/windsurfing trip and then hopping a plane. I don't mean to say it has a neoprene compartment though - there is just good separate spaces. The rollers were a big deal 8 years ago, pretty standard now, but the wheels have held up great. Like many of my DaKine products, this will last a long, long time.

DAKINE Split Roller Large Gear Bag - 6000cu in

Awesome travel bag! Heavy Duty construction, wheels are solid and tough. It has almost perfect size compartments for all your different clothes and gear, I have had a lot of different types of bags and this one by far my favorite. I highly recommend it.
