You have a ton of crap to bring on your trip, and you definitely don’t have a third arm to carry extra luggage. You don’t want to pay weight charges, either. The DAKINE Split Convertible Rolling Gear Bag handles your stuff and splits into two checkable bags.

  • Split-level design allows for easy access when you don’t have room to unpack
  • Front pockets organize toiletries
  • Urethane wheels put up with curb-abuse, snow, and mud
  • Retractable handle for smooth rolling and trunk-fits

Bottom Line: The smart split.

Great bag! It's pretty much the maximum allowed dimensions for a checked bag. Much bigger and you'll get charged a ridiculous oversized luggage fee. There are a bunch of Dakine roller bags about this size, so you've got a couple choices in this range. We packed it FULL of clothes and 2 bottles of definitely-not-tequila on our way back from our mexican adventure and it weighed 49.9 pounds exactly.

I chose this bag for its ability to split into 2 separate checkable bags if it was the only bag my lady and I were going to check but it was too heavy.

The two halves separate completely with 4 giant buckles and a velcro hand-loop at the top. It's got nice big internal compartments, which I liked a lot better than bags that break up the space into 11 different mini-compartments. All I want to do is throw a bunch of clothes in there, I don't need a mini-compartment for my casual underwear and a separate compartment for my formal-dress underwear, thank you very much.

Some reviews said this bag did not stand up well on it's own, and I made sure to pack that end of the bag first so I did not have that problem. I could see that it was possible, but packing that end first did the trick.

All the little details are great. It rolls well, the extendable handle is long enough to lean your carryon backpack over when you're walking around with this rig.

Write your question here...Will a regular sized skateboard fit

Write your question here...Will a regular sized skateboard fit INSIDE this bag?? regular skateboards meaning anywhere from 30-32 inches? so many times it says 32" dimension, but you actually only get about 31" inside the bag. Been trying to find a decent travel bag for years that will fit my deck as Europe won't let you carry skateboards on the plane.

Of course the size of the skate board will vary, but you can always just put the skateboard between the two compartments and it will stay secure in there.

Awesome Bag

I bought this bag for my boyfriend to travel to Australia with. The wheels are super durable, which makes me feel comfortable with all the rolling it will be doing while traveling.
The bag is durable, with sturdy zippers.
I like the design (alpine plaid) - it will be nice and easy to see it coming around the luggage collection turn thingy... as opposed to a plain black suitcase!
I love that it splits into two bags, or can be just one. I would have liked the top bag to not be in three seperate compartments, but it will probably be useful once we go to on our vacation.
The shipping was very fast - and free! BONUS!
I have no complaints whatsoever.

Ballin Bag!

This bag had everything I needed. Took it on a 7 day Mexican cruise and I stuffed it with everything I could think of (from bottles to board shorts) and it took it with ease, with room to spare for some Mexican souvenirs! I loved all the zip pockets and mesh pockets inside. Definitely the best luggage I've ever had!!!!
