The DAKINE Rover Mittens didn't travel all the way up the mountain to mess around. In fact, they brought a waterproof-and-breathable Gore-Tex membranes to keep your hands dry, and warm Primaloft insulation to fend off the cold. What of it? Few will disagree that, when warmth is your mission, mittens are the answer, and the tough-as-nails Rover Mittens pack some serious heat. Slide your hands in, point the tips of your skis at something steep and hairy, and prepare to get wild. We promise that your hands won't mind.

First Mittens

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Considered mittens for skiing for years because even the warmest gloves I have don't keep my fingers warm. And that includes some beefy hunting gloves too. It doesn't help that my right index finger has bad circulation because of a knife injury as a child. So I shopped around for some waterproof mittens and found these at a good price. I used them all last ski season and love them! They are definitely warm but on the coldest days (below 20) my index finger wasn't exactly warm but not cold either. My daughters both have mittens with removable liners so I'm going to get some liners for these. In the colder weather my hands freeze when I take my mittens off to use the phone or fiddle with gear that you can't do while wearing mittens. But when I put them back in these mittens, they warm right up. I'm going to get liners that are touch screen compatible so I don't have to expose by bare hands to the elements anymore.
