This pack has been perfect for school. It's big enough to hold a big fat text book and two binders. I'm super impressed with construction and attention to detail. I also love the soft sunglass/cell phone pouch, great for keeping them clean and handy.

English Major backpack...

By:
November 7, 2008

Seriously the perfect backpack for anyone who is hauling around a ton of stuff everyday. I'm an English major and I've managed to cram this thing full to the brim and go along my merry day, no problem. There are tons of pockets to hold all your pencils, and I love the little pockets for your phone or Ipod. The sunglasses pocket is the best, because I can't live without my sunglasses, but I'm worried about them being scratched. This backpack protects them very well. This will last me forever.

yeah its comfy and the straps are as padded as there computer case (see my reveiw) you would not want to carry this thing around on bare shoulders cause its brand new you gotta brake it in. The colors on here are darker than the actual product too. so pink is really bright and almost neon.

Whether or not this is a good pack for school completely depends on your needs. There's a fair amount of padding on the pack, but it's also big. Bigger packs = bigger loads, meaning most people cram more junk into their packs than they need and carry around dead weight. Also, if you need to carry around a laptop, this pack probably isn't that great of an idea.I personally prefer a messenger bag, having a single compartment for all of my gear makes things easy to find, makes sure that I keep it relatively tidy, and they're great for commuting by bike.Check it out:http://search.backcountry.com/exec/?q=timbuk2&x=0&y=0http://search.backcountry.com/exec/?q=crumpler&x=0&y=0

A security pocket is generally a pocket inside of another pocket, while a back panel is for things like hydration reservoirs.
