Tuck your surfboard under your arm, toss your Dakine Point Backpack over your shoulders and skate on down to the beach. Hear those waves? Today is going to be good. A seam-sealed wetsuit pocket keeps your suit from making the rest of your gear soggy once you're done shredding, and the skate carry straps hold your longboard securely. Slide your shades into the fleece-lined sunglasses pocket and keep the lenses scratch-free while you session your favorite break.

great pack

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

we have had 3 of these now, and not because they fall apart, they are just great packs.
Plenty of compartments for whatever you need to haul around.
I use mine as my everyday pack, and the wetsuit compartments holds my laptop perfect.

How big is the laptop you're fitting into the waterproof compartment? Will it fit a 17 inch laptop?

unfortunately, I do not think a 17" would fit in this one.
Mine is about 15.5 ish and its a tight fit

Using it for Triathlons

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I purchased this backpack because of the water proof pocket on the backside. I race triathlons and needed a good transition bag. Other transition bags can cost in the $100s so this seemed like a great choice! I have now used it for several training sessions and one race. Being able to keep my wetsuit separate from the rest of my gear is awesome! I love that it has two water bottle holders, and the organization pockets in the front compartment are ideal for a cell phone and wallet among other things. Love this bag.

How much does this pack weigh and will it...

How much does this pack weigh and will it compress well? I'm looking for a waterproof daypack for a trip to Scotland that I can pack in my travel backpack.

Just to clarify, this pack is not a dry bag but rather is referred to as a dry/wet pack as it comes with a back pocket that has space for a rashguard or wetsuit. If you are in need for a waterproof pack you may want to look into alternative styles. As for compressibility, this will get quite thin. The pack dimensions are 19 x 12 x 9", but will flatten to about 19 x 12 x 1.5 to 2 inches when empty.

I'm not a surfer, but a beach-goer that loves the waterproof compartment. The sunglasses pocket is also rad and this pack makes it easy to keep your stuff organized so you're not looking for something for 20 minutes.
