Tour behind the backcountry skier setting the track, and steal the first lines of the day while he catches his breath. The Dakine Poacher Backpack's main compartment and avalanche gear compartment are fast-and-easy to access so you can dig your pit before the other skier can take off his skins. The main compartment has a massive capacity for climbing ropes if you're mountaineering that day, and there are multiple carry systems for skis, snowboards, and splitboards.

Dakine equipped the Poacher with a pre-curved internal framesheet for stiff support and long-lasting comfort. There's an insulated hydration sleeve that prevents your water from freezing on cold tours. This backpack also carries your helmet and two ice axes, and there's a side pocket for a water bottle.

Super Versatile

You can remove the frame when you want a more flexible pack. Not what I would select for a 4 day backpacking trip, but the belt and frame works great for lighter or shorter trips. Has about a million configurations for skis, boards, and anything else you would want to strap to your back. So far no breakage and it looks well made. Use it for a carry on when I don't want to deal with a roller.

    Carry all the things!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

They thought about all the details when designing this pack. Easy access back panel. shovel/probe pocket with dividers to hold everything into place. A-frame, verticle(board) diagonal(ski) carry. It’s a little big for day tours but is also sturdy when not fully packed.

    Carry all the things!
