    Fantastic Pack

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Was looking for a pack that could suffice a few needs:

1.Make it easier for me to travel with my camera gear on airlines or car trips.
    2. Could make day hikes with camera gear more comfortable/convenient.
    3. Could allow me to take out the actual camera storage and put it in my backpacking pack.

This pack and camera system satisfies all those needs. I was able to comfortably put in the camera storage:
    Nikon D610,
    Nikon N80,
    Nifty Fifty lens,
    35-80mm Lens, and a
14-24mm Lens (this is a good size lens if you're not familiar)

And in the actual pack I could fit (with camera case inside):
My MacBook (has to go in main compartment with camera storage but still fits easily)
    My iPad in an otterbox
Misc. chargers, remotes, memory cards etc.
    A couple of books

I was blown away how much I could put in the pack and how well organized the pocket system on the pack is. My only complaint (which I'm not using as a knock on the rating since I was aware of it before I bought it) is that it's not hydration bladder compatible, where as it's main competitor the Lowepro Flipside is. However, it does have an internal side pocket that can come out and hold a Nalgene bottle with ease. And like the Lowepro Flipside, it comes with a rain cover. But what I felt gave this pack the edge over the LP was the fabric of the actual pack which to me seems way more durable on the Dakine Mission.

If you're looking for an extremely versatile camera pack this is it. Can't say enough about it. You will not be disappointed.

An awesome price for a good camera bag. I was looking forever for something I could take hiking with me and carry my camera body and three lenses. Only complaint is that theres only a snowboard carry.

    Backpack of the Year!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I originally bought 2 bags from this site. The Poler Excursion, and this bag. The Poler was sent back quickly.

This bag is everything you need to be a great photographer, as well as function on the run, and still look great. It hold a lot of my crap (I have a ton of crap).

My main set up that I travel with: Canon 5DMKIII, 24-105mm, 70-200mm, battery grip, various accessories, Macbook Pro 13.3. I have plenty of space for everything that I need, including tripod.

2 things that dogfunk doesn't list: The iPad sleeve WILL hold a 13" laptop. Also, The waist straps do not have a holding system. When you ride, run, travel, you typically have the straps around your body. But, I was getting sick of walking around town looking like the newest photographer to hit SLC. SO, I sewed a simple button onto the straps and it causes no trouble.

I love this bag and would urge everyone to grab one, or two!

    Backpack of the Year!

    Great camera pack

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought this pack intending to use it for my Canon T3i and GoPros, and it works perfectly for that. This bag could easily hold a lot bigger cameras than the T3i and a lot longer lens than my 80-250mm. I am able to get the T3i, two gopros, chargers, extra lens, bunch of mounts, and a lot more accessories. The removal camera block is is easily removal. I find it is perfect for when you don't have enough room to bring along the entire bag but still want to protect the camera.
