My first Dakine backpack. Solid build quality. It is a little small but its exactly what I was looking for. I will continue to buy more Dakine packs in the future!

I've used the Heli S Pack for 3 years, never needed to use the hydration feature till now and I thought I should figure out how this worked,couldn't do it, this getting me to read your question while looking for the answer myself.
Could not find an answer so I started probing and found a small niche on the left shoulder strap, directly from the main compartment. This opening allows you to get the hose through the shoulder strap and to the small zipper pocket on the same left strap. It took me a few minutes to get the hose thorough, because of the mouth piece, but once in place, everything makes complete sense.

got this pack because i needed something small and lite to carry water and some other essentials. Pack feels lite and secure while riding, don't even realize its there.

this pack does NOT carry skis or a snowboard... i ordered it after seeing in the tech specs that it would carry skis vertically and even after being guaranteed by the online chat dude that it would carry my skis so i went for it... sure enough it won't hold them in any way... i'm now having to return it and find another pack before i leave for my backcountry tahoe trip... hence the title of my review... bummer... might be a great pack if you don't need to carry your skis or board... for that purpose order the heli pack as it's the same thing but had a loop for a diag carry system for the skis and some horizontal straps for the board...

The 2007 does not have the ski/sboard features, and it's clearly stated. The 2008 and up, does have that. See pic http://www.besportier.com/archives/dakine-heli-pro-20-liter-
