After you poach all the pow in the resort, take the DAKINE Heli Pack into the backcountry and get some more. DAKINE constructed this backpack with a thin profile, close fit, and streamlined design to make it equally suitable for riding the first chair and hiking for first tracks. Stash your shovel in the Heli Pack's quick access shovel carrier and your fleece and PB&J in its 660cu inch interior so you can ride all day. Carry your skis diagonally or your board vertically and hike to your secret pow stash. This DAKINE backpack is also hydration compatible with an insulated Hydro-Sleeve. If you're a minimalist whose backcountry routine is super dialed, the Heli is a great pack for local day-touring.
Bottom Line: The DAKINE Heli Pack gets the job done at the resort or in the backcountry.
I bought this pack in January and i used it for 7 days in Whistler. It worked great! I could put my skis or my skateboard on it and trow a lunch in it for on the mountain. this pack is amazing for the daily rider who doesn't need all that bulk. low profile and puts no strain on my back! This pack is sick!
This pack is great for a day on the slopes, then after all the fresh powder is gone you can strap your skis on and hike up for more! Its thin design makes it possible for chairlifts. The bag is very comfortable to wear on your back! Great pack!
I'm not going to say it's a bad pack, but it's definitely not a good pack. By the way my benchmark is the CamelBak menace. First off the stitching on the top board carry strap is directly on the top flap, as opposed to having a longer nylon piece extending off main body of the pack. I'm expecting a blow-out there at some point in it's lifetime. Next the snow shovel handle straps leaves something to be desired. Yes there is a top loop for that, but the bottom loop is incorporated with the board carry. Spend a little more and get the bladder with the menace, and a generally better made pack.

The pack itself feels great when on your back. There is very little wiggle from side to side. and my skis fit nicely in the straps. However you cannot adjust the height of the waist straps. This is only a problem if you have a shorter torso. this pack is literally a day pack. the 660 cube inches is only enough room for a bottle of water, extra gloves, and a few power bars, it's really slim. But thats why you love it. I skied a whole day with on and while skiing I forgot it was on. buy it you'll like it.
The bag that I got is very nice...and feel really good at the back and it feel lights than other bag that I got. The website is really nice and very helpful and its very organized so you can see what your really looking for...Thank you.
I did as much research as possible before settling on the Dakine pack. I wasn't disappointed - it carries enough stuff (extra gloves, goggles, pullover, etc.) to hold you for a day at the area, and wears great on the lifts! And the low profile means it doesn't get in the way regardless of what you're skiing. The construction is solid with plenty of storage bays.
This pack was purchased for my 12 year old daughter to snowmobile and snowboard. She loves it. The pack is comfortable and has plenty of room for storage. It is light weight and easy for her to wear.
This backpack is the perfect size for a snack for the day and any other gear you need for your day if adventures. It easily straps my skies or board allowing me to hike anywhere much easier. Overall the best backpack I have ever owned.
