DAKINE Cobra Glove - Men's - 2008 BCS

Another fantastic Dakine glove. Durable, waterproof, and stylish. They do have a few negatives though. In cold weather, they do not keep your hands too cozy and warm. Still on the chilly side. Would recommend a thinner "glove liner" style glove to wear underneath. Also, when the end of the season arrives and you're doing the annual gear wash, be sure to dry your gloves by a heat vent or somewhere with alot of warm circulating air. They take a few days to dry after getting thoroughly wet.

Hey I want to buy a used pair of the Dakine Cobra (Brown/Tweed, Large, Last Year's Style) if anyone is willing to sell their's. I really love these gloves, went well with my set up, and I'm having trouble replacing the pair that were stolen earlier this season. If you can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it!

Over the past two seasons, I've owned and destroyed three pairs of Dakine Cobras. The first two (2010 models) blew out finger seams in roughly in 15-20 days. Big props to Dakine's warranty department for taking care of me with these issues though. After I destroyed my last pair, I received this year's model as a replacement. This year, instead of dealing with a quality issue, the problem is the design (which eventually lead to a gear failure). The previous year's Cobras used a velcro hook and loop closure, which I never had a problem with. This year the closure has been changed to a zipper (contrary to Dogfunk's specs seen on the right hand of this page). The problem with this zippered closure is how tight the wrist section is of the glove. I don't have extremely large wrists/hands, but even with a size large the wrist section of the glove is way too tight and makes it difficult to pull the zipper closed. After about 10 days of wrestling with the zipper to get it closed, the metal fatigued enough for the zipper pull to break off on one of the gloves. The pull on the other glove is noticeably bent from struggling with it as well. So now after going through three seperate pairs of Cobras in two seasons (none of which made it more than 20 days) I've officially given up on them, despite being one of the more comfortable gloves I've used.

First off the only reason they are not 5 star is because of the lack of a long cuff for an under glove (which is no longer a problem as I made a ninja guitar for my jacket). Other than that these gloves preform with the best of them. They are a replacement for my Burton Guide gloves that wore out in less than a full seasons use. I have used the Cobra in 36ºF rainy conditions for over 4hrs straight and my fingers did not prune nor were my hands too hot. I have also used in 20ºF and my fingers did not come close to being cold. They might not have some of the nice whistles of other gloves (goggle wipe and so on) but I am very happy with them to date and will likely be purchasing another pair. Highly recommended :D

UPDATE: Almost 2 seasons down and the only sign of wear is the soft thumb pad; it is starting to deteriorate. The rest of the glove (material and stitching) is holding strong! Still as waterproof as ever. DOWNSIDE.. my buddy has a pair of the new ones (main dif being the zip cuff v.s. my velcro cuff) and he hates em as they are hard to get on and when he manages to get the zipper to close, it does not stay closed. So I keep my 4 start for the older velcro version, but would give the new ones a 2/3 star.

their alright, they dont really come up all to high on your wrist so if your riding pow, your sure to get snow in your glove and they are definitely not a cold day skiing glove. i was riding Jackson the other week and they couldn't keep me as warm as i hoped but other than that their comfortable and so far durrable

I have used these gloves on many days where the temp is well below 0 and they have been nothing but great. Warmest gloves I have ever owned!!! Highly reccomended.

Great gloves, good fit still maintain a fair amount of dexterity. Warm but not the warmest, good for 15+ degree weather. All in all good gloves with great designs.

Just a quick first impression since I just got em in the mail and haven't skiied em yet: Great fit, seem durable n well built--beware if you're buying based on color though, the purple is waaaaaaay darker than it looks on the interwebz, still purple but like closer to black/maroon. Whatever image they use on dakine's/BCs website is off.

Who could call these horrible gloves GORE-TEX, they a straight up horrible!Do NOT BUY UNLESS YOU WANT WET HANDS.!! Dakine should sstick to making packs, not gloves!!!! :(

they keep my fingers pretty warm. they're nice.
