Whether you’re taking a hike to get at some early season snow or going for a day tour in the middle of the winter the Dakine Chute 2200 cu in Backpack will carry everything you need for your adventure. Fill up your hydration reservoir and slip it into the Chute’s insulated sleeve before starting your trek and be comfortable knowing your shovel and probe are secured in the front avie pocket. With top and back access you can easily get to any supplies or snacks you need along the way and the diagonal ski carry system will hold your planks in place as you mush up the mountain.

Bottom Line: No chute is safe.

Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

So it could handle some textbooks, and supplies, but i am really asking if it is a good pack for a full year of high school? Is it a good school pack?

the durability is great but this backpack is a little taller and less fat than most school backpacks so if you're gonna be carrying a lot of books you might not want it. read my review...

Yeah super durable. Best part is it has a lifetime warranty so if it wears out they just replace it.

Great Pack

This Dakine pack is excellent! It has plenty of room for all your gear. The rear access door is a great feature for getting into the bottom of the bag without unpacking everything. The insulated hydration sleeve works great with a Camelbak and keeps the water from freezing up on the mountain! Very durable material and takes the abuse you want to put it through! I highly recommend this pack to anyone looking for a good all season pack.

Good Stuff

So far I've had the bag about a month and it has been awesome for resort skiing, ski/snowshoe touring, city slicking and as a photo bag (with added padding). A a staunch top loader fan I was skeptical at first, and it can be challenging if you are cramming it full, but it still has a nice capacity for day trips. It has enough places to clip and tie on the outside to satisfy most pack gypsies and internal organization is neither too much nor too little. Properly packed it can carry a 13" laptop (fits in avie pocket) 2 larger textbooks ~500-600 pages each and a DSLR with short and long lenses along with miscellany in the smaller pockets. Suspension is comfortable up to about the 15-20kg mark after which even if adjusted properly weight becomes a bother.
I do have two gripes about the bag: one being that the bottom is not vulcanized (this is what I suspect will be the death of my bag); and the other is that the bladder pocket configuration is hokey at best, one is too short and wide for my 3L camel (dakine makes bladders and this might be solely for their "reservoirs") and the other is opposite the main compartment leading to hose snag hell.

This is a good all rounder with excellent skiing use. Needless to say my other 35L pack has been put out to pasture :*(.

Great Bag

By:
January 27, 2009

This bag is absolutely great. Wether I am going to class, skiing, riding my bike, or just doing a quick day hike. This bag will do everything you ask for. At 2200 cu in it may be on the larger side for a ski bag, but its not like you have to pack it full every-time. Just cinch down the straps and its as low profile as most other bags. The diagonal ski carry system is clutch for transporting ur skis from the parking lot, or hiking up.
Every feature I have found on this bag serves its purpose and goes beyond.

I would highly recommend this bag.

Finally a well sized backpack for skiing and/or carry stuff for the whole weekend. For me it's the best backpack I had so far. Its larger than the Heli Pro and still not too big.

This backpack is dope. It has everything i need pocket wise and the main pack is big. Holds skis well and the goggle pack is perfect. Can't complain about this bag, although I didn't realize it came with hip straps, they work out really well. I use it for ski trips, class (carries laptop and 3 big college books comfortable), and camping.

Hey, I was looking for a good bag that would work for school

Hey, I was looking for a good bag that would work for school and skiing. I mostly ski in the north east, so im not doing a ton of BC skiing, i probably will never carry a shovel or any of that with me. But i would like something that can carry my skis on occasion and my books for school. I have a backpack for school that's about 2000cu in. and when i wear it, it feels like it would just be to big to ski with, and the chute is bigger. so i was looking at the Dakine Pro 2 pack for skiing but i like the size of the chute for school. Does anyone have any experience with either backpack? any info would be great. Basically i need to know if this bag would be to big to ski with if im not a huge BC skierMichael, i look at all the dakine bags and am set one these two. The heli pro is much to small for all my school stuff

Perhaps it's just me but the Pro 2i s agreat size and yes the Chute is rather large for a ski pack..Neither seems to be ideal for carrying books, etc though so I'd go with a seperate backpack for those.

looks awesome!!

I got the olive soba and I must say this bag looks sick!! and is great for it's main purpose which is for backcountry ski trips so if your a skier this bag is perfect, being a snowboarder myself though it is easily modified to carry a snowboard instead. It's super comfortable although the main purpose I bought it for is school which it will work ok for but it's more tall and less fat than most backpacks so it's not the best choice if you're carrying a lot of books, but over all it looks awesome and will be great for dayhikes and snowboarding trips when you're not in school.
