- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I use this bag a lot on my adventures. It is great when I need more than can fit in a weekend bag and I have been able to shove a lot into it and still fit in an overhead bin. I get a lot of compliments on it the black & white stripes. I've had it for a couple of years & it's still going strong. It did smell a little bit like smoke or chemicals when I first got it which worried me. I wiped it down with a damp cloth & some mild cleaner, opened it and dried it out/aired it out, and then closed it up with a fresh wave bag - the smell was gone in about 48 hours.
Es super comodo, por su forma triangular entran menos cosas de las que parece pero es bastante amplio de todas formas. Las ruedas son solidas y no huele a nada raro como le ocurrio a alguien.
Dakine is the best

I have the 6000 cu wheeled suitcase, which I love, and bought this one for shorter trips, wheels roll smoothly, and I am never afraid that airport employees will destroy it, these things are sturdy!! I Plus good space. 100% recommend! I also have the backpacks. Did not smell anything as someone else .
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
This is the second attempt with this bag, the first arrived and looked beautiful but was so smelly , a chemical smell, that it couldn't be used. We were hoping that this was just a fluke but apparently not we reordered and the same thing a terrible chemical smell. No thanks!
DAKINE Carry On Valise Duffel Bag
Great for short trips carry on
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I have this bag in Kala and received positive comments & smiles from lots of females at the baggage claim, not to mention it matches the valet bag I had as a cross-body accessory! If you need a big voluminous , no frills 'bag' that is still a carry-on, this is it. The frame work will not allow it to fit under an airline seat but will definitely fit in the overhead bin. I checked it only because I wasn't in a hurry, didn't feel like bothering with ANY baggage and it was free. The video gives an accurate view of the bag. Inside, are 3 open pockets with elastic approx 6"x6". The opposite side is a zippered pocket approx 12"Dx8"D. The only design suggestion I have is: The zipper pull 'TABS" on each end stick up whether the bag is full or not. They need a big snap or metal ring that can be secured somehow to the base of the bag when it's NOT full. It's hard to explain, but if there were a ring at each 'Tab' and one at the base (where the solid color meets the print of the bag), at least I could put a carabiner to secure them down and keep the shape of the bag more confined. The empty bag is 5lbs and 'feels' heavy.
Overall, I'm very happy with it .
DAKINE Carry On Valise Duffel Bag
Can this bag be stacked on a suitcase to be wheeled around? Doesn't look like there is any sleeve to slip over a suitcase's extended handle, but perhaps the straps are long enough to put over the handle. (I'm assuming the top surface of the suitcase is large enough to rest the valise on.)

Will this fit under the seat of an airliner?
Hello, thanks for the question.
This is actually going to be very dependent on the airline and where you sit on the plane (business class, coach, first class etc.)
The space available under the seat widely varies between airlines, and the model of the plane. You should check with your airline to determine what these restrictions are for your journey.
Here are the dimensions for this bag: 20 x 15 x 10.5 in
This is fairly sizable, so my best guess is that no, it won't fit underneath the seat.
