If you are looking for a gear bag that will make all your clothes smell like your boots, click the ‘back’ button now. If you are still reading this, you’re not a giant fan of boot stink. Dakine made the Cargo Pack big enough to carry all of your gear, then gave it a separate tarp-lined boot compartment that seals your boots off from the rest of the pack. Boots should smell like boots. The rest of your gear shouldn’t.

It will carry your skis, up the hill. It can hold your boots, and yes it will fit on an airplane. It won't carry your skis on the plane though, for that you'll need something bigger to put them in.

I was wondering this same thing myself, so I checked the reviews for previous models of this bag. A few people answered this question about the 2008 model, which looks exactly the same as the 2009 model (as far as I can tell). This is what one guy said:

I got this pack a week before I left for my annual snowboarding trip and it is awesome! I was able to put my snowboard boots, pants, helmet, goggles, plus all my other stuff to carry on a plane like books, camera etc. It is the perfect size for a carry-on. The actual deminsions of the pack are bigger than the max allowed carry-on but you have to remember its a backpack so it will work fine."
