There are times when the combination of the right type of soil and a light, misty rain can spell epic riding. We've ridden some trails in the Pacific Northwest that turn a light rain into intensely rail-able turns and face-melting speed. Even so, feeling wet and clammy during a ride can be a real bummer. Having a light rain jacket on hand can be the key to a day you'll talk about for years to come, and the Dakine Blitz Jacket fits the bill nicely. This waterproof breathable 2.5-layer jacket will stash compactly in your pack, so you'll be ready when the weather pulls a fast one.
Dakine built the Blitz Jacket with 10K waterproof, 10,000g/m breathable nylon fabric that will stand up to all but the nastiest downpours. This isn't a spray-on treatment, it's a waterproof breathable membrane that will last for years with proper care. The seams are fully taped to eliminate the typical weak spots in the waterproofing. The jacket's breathability allows moisture to escape, so you don't get that nasty, clammy feeling that some jackets will give you. Dakine also equipped the Blitz with zippered underarm vents that allow you to dump heat in a hurry and let the fresh air in. A vented back panel forces out stale, clammy air.
The fit is pure freeride. The Blitz is loose and comfortable. Articulated sleeves give the jacket a natural feel, and the dropped tail covers you in the seated position. Dakine rounded out the Blitz's construction with adjustable cuffs, a helmet-compatible cinch hood, and water-resistant zippers.
The Dakine Blitz Jacket comes in four sizes from Small to X-Large. It's available in the colors Octane and Black.

Best rain jacket for the money
- Gender: Male
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
This shell is amazing! Very waterproof, wind-resistant, and the fit is true to size. The pits are equipped with TURE zip-vents (not lined with mesh) so that when you really get your sweat on you can open this jacket up to breathe. The cuffs are great, solid overall construction, and the hood is helmet compatible. As previously stated, the Octane red really pops on a gloomy day. This jacket is FRESH, so get it.
Stay dry and steezy

Comfortable, roomy fit without being too baggy and getting caught on stuff. Quite durable and shrugs off branches and other trailside gnar. The hood is large and fits well over my open face helmets without problem. Breathes well, but most importantly keeps you dry. It packs down nice and small & I toss it inside my Dakine Nomad pack anytime there is a chance of rain. Zippered pockets are handy for light items but if you're riding aggressively heavier items (cell phone or multi tool) will bounce the jacket around because the shell is quite light.
The red looks great on a dreary day, too!
