You can do anything--anything--in a wool beanie.

Throw on the Dakine Women's Audrey Beanie before you brave the elements to go have a warm cup of joe with the girls. Yes, it's totally ironic that you have to get cold to get warm, but that's how it goes.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

Every autumn as the cold weather descends upon our salt valley, I engage in an annual tradition I have termed: BeaniePALOOZA.

It’s an event in which I literally comb through every women’s beanie listed on and add all the desirable ones to my cart. From there I winnow down my choices to 10 or 20 and determine which are my very most favorite. After that I try all the winners on, and narrow down my choice to a respectable 1-2 winners.

A couple things to know about me and my beanie preferences:

* I LOVE a good pom, if a hat’s pom is too small, it’s out of the running.
* I have an unreasonably small, child-sized head. So most beanies don’t fit me. I’d say a good 85% of all beanies are too large which is why I must exhaustively search for beanies that work for me.
* Odds tell me that if a beanie didn’t fit me, it will probably fit you (again, small head).

This was the ONLY winner in BEANIEPALOOZA 2015.
It actually fit my head. And I am fond of this style and this was the perfect replacement for a similar DaKine hat I bought on Main Street in Park City way back in 2007.

For someone with a smaller than average head, this is grrrrrrrreat.
