The DAKINE Apollo Gloves pull out all the stops to provide total moisture protection and warmth on the worst-weather days of the entire season. Thanks to a waterproof breathable Gore-Tex XCR insert, these DAKINE gloves stay totally dry through the slushiest rides. Tough Pittards ARMOR-TAN leather and Schoeller softshell material make the Apollo Gloves durable enough for any conditions. These burly gloves also include PrimaLoft insulation for warmth and a full-length gauntlet to keep out snow on powder days.
Bottom Line: When horrible weather strikes, keep on riding with the DAKINE Apollo Gloves.
These gloves are crazy warm. I've had them in 10 degrees, no liner, no problem. Anything in the 20 degree range and higher, your hands will sweat. These gloves are more than water resistant. The leather does soak up water, but I skied all day with these is some early Northwest slush and rain and had no water come close to touching my hands (except for the sweat). The fingers are fat and the gloves are big, so don't plan on text messaging with these bad boys on. I bought a size 10, which is the same size I wear for Mechanix gloves. The fit is fine without the liner. I put a liner in just to check it out, and it was still fine. I think a liner is only required in sub-zero temps. The leather is supple, just remember to air dry your gloves if the leather ever looks wet.
1. Apollo gloves fit small--Order 1 size up, especially if you like to use liners.
2. Attractive glove, with top-grade materials. Warm--Worn without liners down to 5 above, plus wind, in an Alta powder storm. Leather is soft, and needs little breaking-in.
3. On my pair, a seam came apart after 1 week of use, unfortunately, and replacement is out of stock.
Pretty tall order there, I bet you could although a Gore-Tex windstopper glove might be more up your alley. It would be funny if you were in a biker gang, then you might really have an alley that's "yours".

This gloves have been bomber the past two seasons. I put them through hell last winter as a snowmaker and snowboard instructor and they're are still in great shape. They handled the cold very well especially at night driving a snowmobile and in temps below zero and in 85 mile an hour winds. They also held up great to shovels, snow guns, snowboard and ski edges and any other metal edge i could try and tear them up on. They are alos still dexterous enough to handle tools and adjust bindings. There is nothing bad i can say about these gloves even if i wanted to.
I've used these gloves in Colorado on a snowy day at -10 degrees. I was skiing all day and my hands did not get cold in any way, shape, OR FORM!! They have held up relatively well (I have had them for the past 2 years), and they both look and perform as well as the first few days Ive used them. Break in is short to nada, and the leather feels like a baby's bottom. My only gripe is the inside of the fingers is close to being cut through because I was dumb and held my skis on my shoulder...so the edges cut the outsides. But they are great good investment.
I am not a soldier, but I feel that it would not work for most guns. If you are using the M4 (the only gun I am aware of that has the flip down trigger guard), then it would work. However, the trigger guard on most guns will prevent the user from getting the finger on the trigger quickly, firing several shots quickly, and taking it away quickly. It is just too bulky to fit. Hope this helps!!
Followed Steven's recommendation to order up a size and am thankful I did. Gloves fit great and are very warm, but had a similar issue with a seam on the interior tearing shortly after purchase. Returned them and got another pair which hasn't had a problem. Thoroughly satisfied with both the gloves and backcountry.com's customer service.
Gloves are very warm and strong. I chose them because of the great quality and care for details that Dakine always does show with the backpacks. I was not wrong: the features, construction, materials and reinforcement are placed just where and how they are needed. They require some minor break-in but they follow the shape of your hand very quickly (for me were two ski days plus one shoveling the car out of the snow). Finally, I do not recommend to oversize on isolated gloves like this because like ski boots isolation material will pack a bit with use.
What a gret pair of gloves! Well worth the money. Keeps your hands very warm and you cant live without the google wipe on the thumb. Would only change one thing and that would be to add the pocket on the top of the glove for the heat packets!!! Great glove!!!!
The gloves look great and this would have been my 3rd pair of Dakine Gloves. The Apollo is a leather glove however and the thumb was very short for an XL. I think an XXL would have been OK but Dakine does not make this. I don't know why the leather version is smaller but the gloves simply don't fit where the non leather XL's fit fine. Just a heads up. This site made if very easy to return them and sent me a call tag for the return.
