DAKINE’s hydration-equipped Apex Pack w/100oz QD is like a freeride mountainbike crowd groupie—always dependable, always helpful. The Apex’s Quick Disconnect 100oz Nalgene reservoir makes no water stops, and the full-face helmet pocket and external straps to hold body armor help you get ready for gnarly downhills. Drop-down organizer pockets keep gear secure, and a fleece-lined sunglass pocket stores your spare shades. With the Apex on your back, you stay comfortable wherever you pedal—a compression-molded back panel and waist-belt ensure a close and rigid fit, while breathable Dri-Mesh shoulder straps prevent irritation by moving moisture away from your skin.

Bottom Line: The DAKINE Apex is a totally original freeride mountain bike pack that accommodates all your downhill needs.

A rad bag with good functionality

I used this bag on a two week hiking trip. Haven't used it for biking. The Dakine Nomad is too small, so I upgraded to this bag on sale from backcountry outlet for $79. The front compartment has real good mesh pockets to keep things separated and makes items easy to access. The small side pockets are really handy and not offered on the nomad. The only complaint is the straps that hold your helmet in place have to be unbuckled to get into the main pockets, so it's a small hassle but works well for bag compression. I'm 6'2" and found the back to sit high and small, but that's a good thing in a biking bag. The water reservoir has a nice clip on the shoulder strap to keep the mouthpiece in place. Water stayed cold for a long time, even on desert hikes. the straps on the bottom for leg armor is also handy for backpacks and towels. Overall a real versatile bag that i'd reccomend. (black color is kind've boring)
