Thanks to the Dakine 60/40 Convertible Rolling Gear Bag you can bring all the essentials for storm chasing without shelling out those extra Benjamins to the sticky-fingered airlines. This redonkulously large bag splits into two bags, one for checking in, and one to carry on the plane with you, allowing ample room for your boots, gear, case of cheap vodka, and a litter of puppies. The retractable handle and über-burly urethane wheels make hauling this bag around the airport or city a breeze, while the two top pockets keep you r gadgets and doo-dads from disappearing into the abyss of this budonkadank bag.

Bottom Line: Everything you need for your trip minus the gratuitous fees.

SICK BAG!!!!!

Alright so check it out, I ordered this bag because the wife and I travel A LOT and we are constantly plauged by baggage fees at the airline counters. We always try and pack one heavy bag to save some charges and almost always go over the 50 lbs. limit and have to shell out for it. However those days are over!!!! We got his bag and packed it completely full of gear and then weighed it. With both bags connected to each other it came out to about 75 pounds packed FULL of gear and I do mean full! So if we tried to check it in we would most certainly have to pay the $50 "over weight baggage charge" plus the normal $25 dollar single bag charge. That brings us to a total of $75 bucks each way for one bag F@#$ing rediculous. However with this bag ew simply split the bag in two and have 2 seperate underweight bags at $25 a piece saving us 50 bucks a trip. May not seem like much but when you take 6 or 7 trips a year it certainly adds up.

As for the bag its self it has more than adequate space and a durrable liner so your boots and other hard gear won't tear through. Both pieces have tons of space to be used and the top bag even has a seperate luggage tag. The zipps are high quality and durability super tough and reliable.

Quite frankly for the money there is no standard suitcase that could ever possibly compare. Love this bag might buy another.

Thanks backcountry you guys ROCK!

VERY well constructed as all Dakine products are....but, not user friendly. Large enough that it's easily packed over 50lb airline restrictions. Use of convertible as carry on not at all convenient and packed, even with distributing weight at bottom, very difficult to keep standing on end. Returning and will replace with large duffel or traditional suitcase.

Pretty good bag, you can fit everything in just have to be careful you dont take too much. Its quite a handful to manage when fully packed and joined together, could have a better way to join the 2 bags and some compartments in the bottom half of the bag would be handy, otherwise a great bag and very useful.
