It’s a jungle out there, so train safe

The Mag is our bread-and-butter trainer. An integrated flywheel within an enclosed unit gives you a quiet, smooth ride. You get variable external resistance to make the ride easy for rest days, and tough for the hard ones. It's foldable and requires only minor assembly. The Quick-Lock bike mount lever makes securing your bike a piece of cake. It comes with a custom bike skewer so you won't have to worry about marring the nice one that came with your wheels. And along with the trainer you'll receive a Trainer DVD -- a $30 value.

  • 5-position adjustable magnetic resistance
  • Training DVD include

I'm not a professional or competitive cyclist, more of a recreational one that likes to be in shape during the winter months and I have been pleased with this trainer. It does the job and keeps me using my bike on stormy days when it was not safe to go out on the road. It is not fancy, but its simplicity is a plus for me. Easy to use, and at my level, it is more than adequate. It feels sturdy and well built.
I don't like exercising indoors so I just needed something inexpensive that does the job in harsh winter nights or mornings. I use it as little as possible, if I had to stay indoors more often and for longer sessions, I'd get a stationary bike instead, but for me this trainer is the perfect combination of price and value.

I want to get a bike trainer for the up coming winter, but I only have a muntain bike. Is there a bike trainer out there that I can use with my current knobby tires without having to go out and buy a new tire to conform to the trainer?

Sarah,

Almost all trainers will work with your mtb tires. The only advice I would offer is that you buy a slick tire to put on. Otherwise your mtb tire will be extremely loud while on the trainer
