These tights are amazing. I can't say enough good things about them. I'm 5'4, 135, athletic and swear by the smalls. The concept of compression tights is that they should fit tightly and allow for better muscle performance during activity, and a decrease in muscle fatigue after activity. I was skeptical at first, but I'm now a loyal cw-x fan and you'll never see me skiing without them on. I wear the insulator stabilyx when it's super cold out, and use the regular for days when it's not as nippy. A must have piece of gear for your arsenal. Oh, did I forget to mention they're wicked cute?

Love these, always get compliments

I wear Stabilyx tights for Pilates class and other exercise too. I love the feeling of support. My legs don't tire easily when I wear them. I wear an insulated pair for skiing. They are beautiful and unique-looking and I often get compliments about them. The chart suggests I wear a small, but I think the medium is most comfortable for me. I am 5'4 and 130 lbs.

New to running gear

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I am new to the running world, but I wanted to get some nice tights for my long runs. After checking out the running gear on the BC run guide, I started looking at CW-X tights as it seemed that they were the most popular. I was unsure about the whole compression thing at first, but wanted to give it a try. I totally dig them! No more pulling up/pulling down/re-situating my pants while I'm running (the most annoying thing in the world). These stay in place at all times, and make my legs feel strong. The size chart attached to this pant is for MEN'S for some reason, so I didn't follow it. My dimensions would've put me in an XS, but I think a Small is just fine. I'm 5'4, 110lbs and I think they fit great!

Hi there,
We do have some more ordered to come in! Unfortunately though, we do not have an exact arrival date. I would recommend checking back in every week or so, and they should be available for purchase- hopefully sooner rather than later!

I just recently bought these tights and I am very impressed. I have worn them a couple of times! They do exactly what they say and hold everything in place. Even while trail running. I used them on a run in 19 degree weather in the snow, and while they did not keep me super warm, the run was not unbearable. If ran in such weather all the time I think I would want to also invest in the insulator version.

I was worried like most about the fit. I am 5'8" and 135lbs. I ordered a medium and they fit great. If you are looking for a tighter fit with more compression then a small would be the best bet.

All around I have found no problems or complaints about these tights!

Overall: pretty good

These are unlike any other tight I've worn. The compression cradles your legs and not only helps support them but makes you feel warm when you run. The waist is a little uncomfortable when doing aerobic activities, but doesn't bother me when I'm vertical and running.

I decided to splurge on these tights as I began to train for a half marathon. They are awesome! I am 5'10" and approximately 140lbs and the Medium fit perfectly. My legs are less fatigued after long runs and I love the abdominal support panel - for me, it encourages better posture. I had such a great experience with these that I bought the 3/4 capri cw-x tights as well. Can't wait to try them out cycling!

Holy Compression!

I finally decide to splurge on a pair of these tights as I train for the Boston Marathon. I do not fit into a box on the size chart, being 5'4" and approx 180. I consulted with the Backcountry experts who suggest the medium as my size large running tights slide down as I run. Upon receiving the medium, I was confused at how I'd get these suckers on, particularly after my 5'2" 100lb co-worker was confused at how she'd get them on. Thankful, they do stretch enough to get them on and then compresses everything. Literally holds everything in. I kind of want to get a pair to wear everyday as a base layer because my butt looks nice and it flattens my stomach. I find them to be very comfortable, the x on the knees takes a little work to get just right, but not a deal breaker. Only wish there was a zip pocket for gummies on my long runs.

Very disappointing. ;-(

I have been wanting to buy these tights for YEARS and I finally splurged on them when I started having some knee issues and knowing I'd be moving to cooler weather soon. I am 5'7" and 180 lbs. The Large fit, sort of. They fit for my weight, but when the x on the knees were in the right place, then I couldn't pull the tights all the way up, and the crotch area hung down enough to run my legs and were very uncomfortable to wear. The first time I wore them, I pulled them all the way up, but the x at the knees were too high up, and caused my knee caps to click, which also didn't work. I was also disappointed in how they weren't very warm. I was running in 35-45 degree temps and my butt was still cold, so I knew they wouldn't work when I moved to colder weather. I am glad I tried them because I thought these would be so awesome. I am going to try basic compression socks instead.

Awesome Tights

My wife purchased these tights for the winters in Utah. She loves them and says they are so comfortable that it feels like she is not wearing pants at all. She recommends them highly.

Tight Tights

I bought these three weeks before a half marathon. I wore them twice before the actual race. Each time I wore them my pace improved. I did not feel fatigued like I had with other races. As others wrote, the reflective stripes cracked almost immediately, but I honestly don't care. I was debating what size to buy since I am 5'4" and 140lbs but ended up getting the small. I am glad I did- They fit fine. I think the mediums would have been too big. Overall, I LOVE these tights!

Nice pair of running tights

Overall, these tights do prevent excessive hip and knee pain on my longer runs (although after 12 miles nothing is going to prevent my inevitable soreness). The only problem is that I'm 6'1" so the medium tights are a bit short on me and definitely not too tight. The reflective strips also start to peal after only a few weeks. I'd still recommend these even with the slight problems!

Freakin' AMAZING!

Scored on these tights w/ a discount on CW-X products on BackCountry! But...totally worth the full price! Great for long runs and cooler temps! Not sure how long the reflective pieces will last over time due to the tightness of the compression, but still a great product. My legs feel great to start, during a long run, and for recovery. Will also be great for recovery from long efforts on the bike.

Worth it!

I just ran a 5K and I ran my fastest pace ever - I'm thinking largely due to my new CW-X Stabilyx Tights! I'm 5'7", 120 lbs, w/ a 2-4 size waist - the small fit perfectly. The only thing to watch out for are the foot openings. They are a bit narrow, even for me w/ narrow feet and scrawny legs. Otherwise, they're great for a chilly day and you'll instantly feel the support. I' bought these to prevent deterioration for a long future of running. =) The reason why these stood out among others are the front & back reflectivity on both legs. ...so much better than the tiny little logo by the waist covered by my shirt on tights from other brands.

Great tights - 3rd pair

CW-X makes incredible tights. This is my 3rd pair. The reason I only gave it 4 stars though, is the reflective strips don't seem to be very durable. The basic tight though, is the best I've ever used.

these tights are pretty sweet so far. only worn 'em a few times, but you can really feel the compression. as for size (because i fretted over this myself) i am 5'5", 140 lbs, right on the cusp weight wise between a S and M. I went with M and I'm really glad that I did because the M is quite snug, maybe a little on the long side for my height but i think that is OK.

Pretty decent tights!

Ok, I was really hesitant to throw down this kind of money for running tights, but I got them on sale on SAC. I have used them a few times, and I have definitely noticed that my legs feel different. Typically after running for more than a mile-ish, I feel the pounding and the gravity pull on my muscles, and the more tired I get, the more everything seems to pound. With these on, my muscles were held in place, and I didn't seem to get as tired in my legs (lungs are a different story, lol!) which is a big thing for me to stay running. So they do keep things very held together and stable, hence the name. If you are an avid runner, or want to bump up your game but need to push past a hurdle, I would recommend trying these guys out.
the only frustrating thing about them is when you put them on, it's like trying to put on a hot water bottle. Follow the size guide, but just be patient at first. Scrunch it all the way down to the end of the leg and work it up your legs like a (really tight!) pair of pantyhose. Be prepared to jump and wriggle around to make them fit correctly. Once you have them on though, take off!!!

NEW FEATURE- 360 degree reflective

Hi Everyone-
Please note, this new 2011 reflective version of the CW-X Stabilyx Tight is almost exactly the same as the existing version. You can read reviews here. http://www.backcountry.com/cw-x-stabilyx-tight-womens-cwx0033
The main new feature is what CW-X calls 360 degree reflective. There are 4 strategically placed reflective flash strips on the tights that show up at night and in the early AM during those early morning or night runs. Check these new Reflective Stabilyx Tights out and if you already own a pair of the old ones, maybe think about getting an additional pair for running at dusk and dawn. Cheers.
