5'5 110lbs and not beanpole skinny. Small?

Size up

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

I have a pair of the crops and with the cold weather coming I had to have the full long pair too. I learned my lesson and sized up with this - they are still plenty snug (I'm 5.7", 135 lbs). The weave definitely hugs your muscles and is as flattering as anything skin tight could be.

Awesome tights!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I normally wear a size XS so I sized up to the size SM in these compression tights and they are the perfect fit! I am a big fan of the support these expert tights provide, I have noticed the difference in muscle fatigue since wearing these tights running. Tip: put these on light panty hose, helps slide them on your body quickly. The fabric is very wicking and breathable. I love the fabric feel, it's very comfortable against my skin. A little pricy but worth the support!

Sit well, fit well and take moisture out!
Without these I am a little lazy.

Love em!

These are the first running tights I have gotten and I am in love. For long runs they are great. The fabric is super breathable and the seam stitching doesn't cause any uncomfortable rubbing anywhere. I do notice a difference in muscle fatigue and from when I run with these on. You might be a little leery of their sizing chart- they know what they're talking about. I will definitely be checking out more CWX products.

Great tights

I use these for everything from running to hiking to mountaineering to skiing (fits great under a race suit) and even biking (when I need that extra layer). Definitely run a bit on the small side, but you want them to be compressive in fit, so this is alright.

Like other reviewers are saying,I'm not sure how much these pants are actually stabilizing anyting, but the compression feels really good on long workouts.

pretty awesome pants

i thought it'll be too tight when i first got it . But man , this pant is really comfortable and warm.
i used it to run mostly , I'm not sure how much the knee thing actually works.. i had knee surgery 6 months ago. it didn't feel like it actually making it more stabil but the compression feels good.

If you've never tried them, you should

I bought one pair of these for my wife before buying these from backcountry.com as she would get sore and tired after longer ski runs. After the first day, she skied stronger, faster, and didn't complain of the soreness she had felt the day before. I haven't used them for running, only for skiing and it does seem to decrease the lactic acid build up in the leg muscles. You can still get tired but not fatigued like you may without them.
I won't say it makes me 10 years younger but I will say, I don't ever feel like I need to rest because of tired or sore legs.
I also recommend if you're between sizes, go with the smaller as the tighter compression worked better for me.

comfortable

Used for 10 mile trail run and didn't have the usual fatigue set in. Felt comfortable. I'm 5'4", 128ish and ordered an XS.

I am 5'7" at 130 lbs. a lot of height in legs, do I go with a small or medium to accommodate leg length?

Responded on

Hi Jennifer-

Did you already settle on a pair? You can actually go either way on the size. If you have strong legs and quads, I would recommend the medium. If your legs are skinny, then I would recommend the small. But honestly, either size would work for you. In the small, you would just have a slightly larger gap between your ankle and the bottom of the tights. Good luck!

Didn't work for me

I'm 5'9 and 135 lbs with longer thighs than calves (by a bit- think t-rex style) and the compression pattern just didn't line up for me in the medium size. They looked a bit like a 'short-pant' on me. I also had issues with the pants trying to slip down. They were returned.

So. These babies sound great but, I'm 140 and 6ft do I go for a M or L?? I don't have insanley long legs for my height so I just want to make sure I'm thinking the right size.

Basing everything on the men's I'lll say that I would judge it on your waist. If you have a wider waist by measurement, I'd go with the large as the waist band may seem too tight in the mediums. If you consider yourself to have a narrower waist, then go with the mediums. As for length, I have the mediums in men's and am 6' and these would be fine for me if I was 6' 2". There's enough length pre stretched and then stretched.

Love the tights!

I am 5'8" and small-medium build and the small size fits very well. There has been a little bit of trouble with the waistband slipping down a bit, but tied tighter, that problem goes away. They are warm, but not too warm, and comfortable. They are my first pair of running tights and I couldn't be happier.

Great tights

I've had these for a year, and they are really great. But sometimes I need to pull them up because they slide down. There is also the problem of bunching around my knees, especially when I'm running. If you are skeptical about compression leggings, give these a try and you might just change your mind.

With these tights. I am 5'6", 104lbs. I am in between an XS and S. Height wise I fit in the small size. Weight wise I fit the XS. What option should I select to fit me properly, provide support, and keep me warm....

I would go with the XS since I've bought both the larger and the smaller of 2 sizes I was between and really like the smaller size more. I will say the larger size was easier to get on but the smaller size kept the fatigue down more.

After reading all these comments I almost feel more confused than before! I am 5"7, and weigh 136 lbs, and therefore fall inbetween the S and M. If I want to ensure maximum support for my knees, would I be best to go for the S?

Responded on

Elli,
I own 4 pairs, all size small. They are a chore to get on, but once they're on your knees are going anywhere. They feel great and really do make a different in fatigue, endurance, etc. Just remember you want them tight!!

love love love these tights

what else it there to say? I usually wear knee brace(s) on my knee(s) - depends on the day.. i found there is enough support with these that i dont have to wear the braces - which slip or if on too tight leave velcro burn.. my legs feel like I could run even more miles than I have.. my longest run with these tights was a 9 miler, and my legs felt like they could have done more! If only I had had more time that day! I also like they "color" so much better than plain black.. gives it a kinda "kooky runners" look - my kids tell me they make me look fast!! these are definitely in the "training schedule" rotation of running gear for my next marathon - most likely race day tights, too!

Very happy

A little work to put on and especially take off after a long run! I wear them in 25-50 degree weather and have been very happy with them. The price on this website is great. Well worth the $ and now I just want a pair of 3/4 and maybe one for colder temps. I have always liked tight tights and these are by far the best I've found.
