CW-X Women's Conditioning Shorts belong to a new class of high-performance equipment known as conditioning wear—clothing engineered to provide a host of benefits to your body, including key muscle group support, increased endurance, shorter recovery times after exercise, and lactic acid buildup prevention. Don't confuse them with technically simple compression shorts. Established in Japan in 1991, CW-X based its designs on the human body's unique motion during exercise. Perfect for running, cycling, and climbing, Conditioning Shorts work by combining two unique zones of stretch material. The body is constructed from a Coolmax and 4-way stretch Lycra blend, providing targeted muscle support and impressive moisture-wicking properties. The key to the Conditioning Shorts, however, lies in the 2-way stretch Conditioning Web that encircles your leg's key muscle groups. While stretching longitudinally, this web holds muscles securely in place laterally, reducing vibration and increasing comfort. Flat seam stitching throughout ensures chafing is never a problem.
Bottom Line: The adventure equipment of choice for improving your body's performance across a wide range of activities.
I bought both these and the Pro shorts but returned the Pro shorts. If you have less than firm thighs, the web will hold you in so that there was an ugly inner thigh bulge. The conditioning shorts don't do this and look and feel great on. I bought the medium even though the measurement chart put me into a small. I think that would be too tight. I also found the inside drawstring unnecessary (these shorts stay up just fine) and I pulled it out. The shorts are well made and worth the price. Have two other shorts from different companies and there is no comparison.
These shorts were awesome. I wore them for my first marathon in San Diego. My ITBS had been an issue the two weeks before the run and I was a bit concerned. These shorts made all the difference. Comfort, support, and dry. Except for the odd tan, I would highly recommend these shorts.
I love these shorts; I've done 3 20-milers and it was a big difference from what I had before. Very natural, like second skin. No problems at all, even in hot weather they were perfect.

I ran my first marathon in these shorts! And it was only the second time I ever wore them! No chafing, and they felt great the entire time. I highly recommend these to anyone who has a little bit of the "chub rub". These shorts are awesome.
They add a level of comfort to long walks (10 to 20 miles) that goes beyond mere compression. They are comfortable both under long pants for cooler weather or on their own for warmer weather. I now have 3 pairs!!
I was searching for a compression-style short and wanted something that would wick away sweat as well. These were the only shorts I found, and they have a key pocket, which is a nice feature. They are a little pricey, but gear is gear, and I would get them again. They run a little large. I have big legs and almost got a large even though I'm short (5'1"), but went with a medium and they definitely aren't too tight. I ran a marathon in them and they felt great all the way through!
I bought these shorts to run my first marathon, trusting the advice of your other reviewers. They deserve their great reviewsI love them, absolutely no rash/irritation, they fit great. I tucked two fuel bottles at the waist of my shorts and 6 gels at the knees and they stayed in comfortably. My friend who is a bit thinner then me got the size medium and wished she had the large.
I bought these shorts for a 50-mile race. They worked out perfect since this ultra was non-supported (only 1 aid station at mile 38) I used the legs to hold on to my power bars and other necessities. They're great running shorts!
These shorts are great! I wore them for a 20 mile race and my first marathon. I could really tell the difference in my legs. My leg felt more energized with these shorts than others I have worn on long runs. They are expensive, but worth it.
