The Kommer Full Throttle Knife—Columbia River Knife & Tool brings you another masterpiece. This assisted folder combines the reliable action and safety of CRKT's OutBurst opening mechanism with the versatility of a premium AUS8 stainless blade. The flat profile fills your hand and feels well-balanced, and the coated stainless steel handle has a pronounced finger choil for an enhanced grip. The limited edition Full Throttle was designed by Knifemakers' Guild member and Alaskan guide Russ Kommer, who's known for crafting high quality knives that last.
I bought a combo edge version of the Full Throttle on one of the forums, at a bargain price. The blue paint was beginning to scratch, so the owner wanted to get rid of it. When the knife arrived, the first thing that I noticed was the blade was razor sharp. Sharper than any other factory edge I have seen. (Original owner never sharpened or used the knife). The second thing that I noticed was that the painted surface felt gummy or tacky. I didn't like the feel so I removed the paint in less than 3 minutes. I like the way the knife turned out and, in all other ways it is a nice, handy edc. A bit awkward to open, but not too so bad that I would not carry the knife. I wish it had a flipper on it. Otherwise, it's a sweet little edc.
This knife is sweet. The OutBurst opening mechanism is really simple and nicely crafted. The blade is sharp right out of the box and the heft of the knife is good. The only thing I don't really like is the gold accents on the knife. However, cosmetics are not as important to me as function when buying a knife, so this one is a great choice.
This is a sweet knife. While I'm not much one for flashy knives (or anything else) I think that the gold accents look really cool. The OutBurst opening mechanism works really well, in that it just takes a little thumb pressure to cause the knife to quickly lock into place. There is no lock to prevent accidental opening, but I have yet to have a problem with this. I have the Combo blade, and while the serrations are more than half the length of the blade, they are more gradual (and less saw-like) and cut very well. This is a very sturdy knife, and as a result of this is indeed on the heavy side. But besides the weight, I can find nothing not to like about it.

High marks for the Outburst system, I find myself idly opening and closing the knife, because it works so well. Blade has stayed sharp for the six months I've owned it. Brass plating on the clip has worn some. I find it to be a little bit heavy, but other than those two minor gripes it's a great tool. I carry it pretty much daily.
I got this for myself last year and then was forced to get rid of it because I was not allowed to carry a blade on probation. I gave it to my roommate who immediately ditched all of his other sharp accessories and sported this one on his lap. So when it came time for me to exchange an item I had purchased for another of equal value I knew what I was going to get immediately. I am still on probation but the court is not going to deny me the opportunity to pimp my drobe with the sexiest knife out there. Awesome detail, great steel, beautiful ornamentation, a wicked quick release action with a sexy "click" to boot. I am a bad boy and being bad never looked so good. Pop your collar! Live dangerous and don't be the last one on your block to get hooked up with this. Oh, it is sharp so use caution and knives can hurt and bite if not respected.
It's a nice knife, sharp as heck. But for as small and thin as it is, it seems awfully heavy. For my taste, a bit more plastic (or wood) and a bit less steel would have made for a better knife. Still, it's a sweet blade.
Super smooth, nice heft to this knife, there are a couple of serration variations out there, the one I got is a cool longer serration version with the gold plated hardware. I use this daily for work and it is a great knife for everything I need it for.
FYI check the serration pattern, make sure the variation you see is the one you order...both work great, one is more "toothy?" but make sure you get the combo version you want!
Like "gray&stingy" (previous review), this knife has become my everyday blade. Excellent build quality, gorgeous design and a satisfying heft won me over pretty quickly. The AUS8 blade maintains excellent sharpness and is a very useful shape. The assisted open is gives a feeling of purpose as the blade sniks into the locked position. So far, I haven't had an issue with opening/closing one-handed, but there is a bit of a trick to it. Although I don't usually do "flashy", the gold colored hardware bits on the knife are pretty cool looking. Far and away, though, the brass counterweight on the back of the handle looks really sharp, with it's custom looking file mark pattern. All in all, very happy with this knife and expect many years of solid use from it. Chalk up another big plus for CRKT.
