Quick releases have lost favor in many places because of the force necessary to properly tighten it into place. The Crankbrothers Split Quick Release Levers make the force part of the equation easy by splitting the lever in two.

The Crankbrothers Split Quick Release Levers take the concept of a single lever and splits it in two. Instead of having to close or open a quick release lever with one big push, the lever can be moved with two smaller pushes. There are upper and lower halves to each lever. Push the lower and both can be tightened at once. Push the upper and both can be loosened at once. But if that's too hard, first tighten the upper and then the lower. Each will take half the force. To make opening easier, open the lower first. It’s even easier in practice than it sounds.

The Crankbrothers Split Quick Release Levers is designed for 110mm front wheels and 135mm rear wheels. The levers and hardware are made from 6061-T6 aluminum. The shafts are stainless steel. Offered in Black, Red, Blue, Green, and Orange. 127g/set.

reddish orange

I got these in the burnt orange. I was at first disappointed that the color did not appear to be orange but more red. I purchased the seat post clamp also which is orange. I called in and was told if I was not happy they would give me my money back on return of the sewers. So I put them on and after about 12 hours looking at them I like them. But as a warning these are not orange but rather a red\orange.

    They do look nice still

What's the benefit of having the split levers? Honestly, it seems like one more step in the wheel securing process. What gives?

The Crank Brothers Split Quick Release Skewers aim to split the forces necessary to set the release. The two stage lever design is meant to ease opening and closing by using two levers to do the work of one. It is sometimes an unnecessary step and if you are strong it is pretty unnecessary. If you have ever struggled with the QR this will be helpful. I looked at these originally on the thought this would save time buy not requiring loosening of the nut to get the QR past drop-out tabs but in reality these didn't open much further than a standard QR and still required loosening of the nut.
