Cool enough for a Machete attack!
This photo was taken about 5 minutes after being attacked by a 12 year old boy wielding a machete on a deserted beach in Nicaragua. (Note the bloodstains and dirt from sand wrestling).
The clarity and crispness of the lenses in these sunglasses helped me to discern his every move as I struggled to fend off the attack and keep the machete off my throat. Luckily, I had about 20 pounds on this little punk and was able to show him my sweet moves. After about 30 seconds of intense tussling I began screaming bloody murder, my crew of 3 dudes came running and buddy booked it into the jungle.
See how refined and classic the sunglasses still appear after such a traumatic event? If they look cool NOW, these can probably handle anything...
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I'd only ever used cheap-o or freebie sunglasses until I gave these Las Olas babes a try. Now, I actually understand why people fork over the big bucks for 'real' sunglasses. HOLY COW! It was like the time when I was back in 7th grade and got contact lenses for my rapidly deteriorating vision....(cue Aladdin and his magic carpet): IT'S A WHOLE NEW WORLD! Super sharp optics, awesome lens tint (I went with the Copper 580P). Looking through these lenses is like actually seeing a better version of Earth, the colors are more vivid, sunsets are better, water is beautiful, the list goes on...
Costa Del Mar got it's start catering to professional fisherman, and using these sunglasses on boats will help you to realize why Costa gets the job done. The Polarized lenses remove the glare from the water, and help you see beneath the surface.
The glasses themselves are really comfortable, I think my favorite part is the grippy nose pads, which actually tend to grip better when you work up a sweat = NEAT. I have a moderately tiny head, so it's actually really tough for me to find sunglasses that fit my face, these work! My only complaint is that the temples (or arms) were really loose when I got them, so I had to tighten the screws myself to make the glasses stay on my face when looking down.
I wish I could have gone for the 580 glass lenses over the plastic, but I've been fairly pleased with the durability of the plastic. I drop sunglasses like it's my job and the lenses are quite scratch resistant. I would buy these again if I suffered the great (and probably inevitable) misfortune of losing them.
