He’s a man among men, the strong, silent type who doesn’t melt into a whining puddle in the harsh glare of midday—if for no other reason than because he has the Costa Del Mar Jose Polarized Sunglasses to help him keep a stiff upper lip. Thanks to the patented Costa 580 glass lenses, nothing escapes his steely eye. Because yellow (a color with which he is not acquainted) is filtered out, colors really pop, and he gets the optical clarity to see things the way they really are. He is not fazed by the harsh brilliance of the spotlight or the reflected glow of his own awesomeness because Costa’s state-of-the-art polarization eliminates glare, improving contrast and definition so he can spot despicable bottom-feeders lurking under the surface of roiled waters. He strides the earth in the Jose's bold nylon frames, striking fear into the heart of anyone who has something to hide.

When it comes to sun protection, your eyes are one of the most important pieces to protect. So do your self a favor and upgrade to a set of glass lens on the Costa Joses. Of all the major brands that are out on the market, the clarity of the 580G glass lenses is the best around.

I purchased the Joses 580G with the copper lenses for river fishing in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and throughout Canada and I could not have made a better choice. I am not sure how they do it, but the polarization on these allows a clear line of vision in the water making sight fishing a breeze. They offer 100% UV protection easing strain on the eyes for all day enjoyment on the water or any other activity to partake in. The glass lenses offer a higher level of scratch resistance than the plastics and are worth the extra investment.

Costa offers a lifetime warranty against any manufacturer flaws or defects in workmanship, so you can rest easy knowing that they will be covered. For added protection, I have attached a pair of Chums for large framed sunglasses; this keeps them snugged up again my face so I am assured they will not fall in the drink. These frames are made to fit medium sized faces and are outfitted with rubber on the arms to keep them glued to the size of your head and on the back of the eye pieces to help keep wind out and your eyes from tearing up.

Overall, these are the best sunglasses I have ever own and cannot imagine a day on the water without them. Do yourself a favor and pick up a pair, you will not regret it.

Jose w/580 Lens

I was and still am a bit dissapointed with the purchase. Reading through all of the reviews I thought I would be more impressed!

The lens are a bit too dark for the fall in Iowa and the spring loaded hinges loosen up a lot.

My impression may change when I'm at our Sarasota home for the winter fishing

    Warranty is a joke

I've had several pairs of Costas, different styles. They have good optical quality, and some do well at speed without causing your eyes to tear (biking, skiing). That being said, they seem very fragile and prone to breaking. One pair broke when I received the most gentle of hugs. Two other times they broke simply by putting them on. When I contacted Costa for warranty repair, every time they refused to honor their 'lifetime warranty' and charged me to 'warranty' (repair) their product. I am used to and prefer dealing with reputable companies that steadfastly stand behind their goods. I will never buy another Costa product, I'm going back to Ray Ban. Same good optics, real warranty protection!

This is good info. Interesting that Costa didn't reply. Clearly, their optics are phenomenal but it's all for naught if they don't stand behind their product. Oakley's are U.S. made and they do (or have so far with me) stood behind their glasses. A better policy and I would switch.

      Highly recommened

These are the best sun glasses I've ever owned!!!!!!! I have $200+ REVO's and Oaklys and these blow them away. By far the best of the best. Worth the price!!! I'd buy another par in a flash!!!!! Get the 580 blue mirror type for the best water & snow function.
