Throw on the Costa Del Mar Blackfin Polarized Sunglasses and head down to the beach for some much needed R&R. The Costa 580 polarized glass lenses resist scratching when you toss ‘em in the sand for a swim and cut glare off of the water and enhance clarity when you scope the swells. The bold frames and wide temples ride comfortably and block out ambient light as you doze off in the summer sun.
Bottom Line: All that fishing’s got you tired out.
I bought the 580 silver mirrors. Was pumped. They showed up. I put them on. I said "Where's the mirror?" I have a pair of Anon silver mirror snow goggles, so I KNOW silver mirrors. These Blackfins are like a lame amber color. As I mentioned in another review, I have a 'thing' about people being able to see my eyes through my sunglasses. When I buy mirrored glasses, I expect to be looking through a one-way frickin' mirror! As much as I wanted to like the glasses, the lenses looked like I was wearing Blue-blockers. I actually thought someone put the wrong glasses in the box, and called Backcountry to tell them that. It wasn't until I ordered the silver mirrors from another site that I figured out silver mirrors are neither silver nor mirrored. Very disappointed.
Beyond the lenses, the frames are great. They stick to your head, feel good, stay in place. Now if they could just get those lenses right.
I call these "Fun Shades" because no matter what kinda day it is sunny, gloomy, rainy, or overcast, you put these 580 lenses on everything just looks fun! They will brighten your day. And when you look out over water you can see sandbars and other things you couldn't see with other glasses or even the naked eye. But be careful these are a bigger frame glasses and will swallow your face if your a small person!

I call these the "fun shades" cuz no matter where you are or what your looking at, when you put the 580 lens on it makes everything look "fun" in other words the lens is so awesome and clear it's like your in a different world. Whether it's driving or work or play theses glasses are the best period!!
Looking through these 580 lenses on a sunny day is like entering a different world...intense colors, perfect clarity, absolutely no glare. And it helps that the frame fits perfectly and is comfortable. Clearly the best sunglasses I ever owned.
I have been inshore fishing in Florida for a number of years now and have always been a big fan of Costa. When they cam out with the 580 lens I was a bit skeptical at how expensive they were. After the first time I put the 580 lenses on, I was hooked and I can't ever go back. These are the best sunglasses I have ever owned. If your on the fence about dropping an extra 80 to 100 for the 580's, do yourself a favor and pay it.
Over the years I've worn lifestyle and performance shades from: Smith, Oakley, Spy, Rudy Project, Kaenon, ...the list goes on. The Blackfin, hands down, have the most comfortable fit I've ever experienced. Generally I would err more towards a brand that's more action-sports focused, but I took a shot at Costa because of the style and positive reviews I had read about the lens quality.
Unlike some shades that look great online, and completely obscene in person the Blackfins translate well. Clean, simple style you won't feel embarrassed to the grocery store after a long trail ride.
580p lenses are precise and incredibly clear. Copper lens is a little BRIGHTER than I expected for the endless Utah sun. Might buy a darker tint the next time around but its a great all around choice. Polarization crushes glare just as well as any other pricey polarized lens out there, and works particularly well on the water.
Grippy rubber along the entire base of the frame holds onto your face well and doesn't detract from the lifestyle aesthetic. Arms have a slight flex, but doesn't feel flimsy at all. Overall the Blackfin's have a durable, feel without ANY additional weight (IMO).
Huge fan of these shades, can't say enough about how impressed I am.
