Description

It’s about time we started seeing front and rear-specific tires.

The Continental Grand Prix Force Rear Clincher Tire is a rear-specific tire built to offer an ideal blend of traction and durability. A big part of its ability to deliver seemingly mutually exclusive traits is that the Force Rear Tire is made with Continental's Black Chili rubber compound. Just like the Attack, its front-specific counterpart, the Force is optimized for its role as a back tire. You could think of it as a GP 4000s that's been race tuned for the rear of your bike.

The Black Chili compound increases tread flexibility to ensure road-hugging compliance. This flexibility gives the tire better rebound over irregularities in the road surface, reducing rolling resistance as well. The nano-sized Black Chili particles effectively "fill" the voids naturally inherent in typical rubbers to increase the amount of rubber in the contact patch of the tire. This reduces tire wear at the same time it aids traction.

The Continental Force Rear Tire has a high-mileage Black Chili tread, engineered to withstand the greater demands placed on a rear tire when you're constantly driving forward. The 24mm profile is an ideal choice for comfort, rolling resistance, and durability. Its dynamic siped tread pattern is rear-specific. It has a Vectran layer sandwiched in place between the tread and the 330tpi casing for added flat resistance.

  • 330 TPI for supple road feel
  • 3-ply + Vectran Single Breaker for puncture protection
  • Recommended pressure 110psi

I have two weeks of use of this tire for club rides and training rides. No muss, no fuss, minimal wear apparent (so far!). I'm a big guy (220lbs) so rear tire wear is an issue for my road biking. This one is doing what is asked of it.

This is a good tire. I didn't get the set because my front tire is still in good shape. I've ridden it a few times with no issues. It has a good feel to it and so far no flats. Not much else to say about a tire...
