Just got this a few days ago from backcountry as it was on sale for $9.99... and it was a well spent 10 bucks. These shorts are light and dry quickly and are almost perfect right out of the bag. The only modification I made to mine was that I cut out the inner mesh underwear, but I do that on every pair of shorts that comes with them. The shorts are good-looking, light, and breathable so you can bum around town in them or even wear them hiking and nobody will know the difference.

Pay attention to the sizing charts, though. I got a small because my waist size is a 30-31 and the Small ranges from 29-32, so the shorts fit perfectly. Overall an awesome buy, especially for 10 bucks.

These shorts are great for water but work great in a number of other scenarios (i.e. hiking, travel). They are comfy and dry quick.

ok, but not great

These shorts would be great except for a couple minor things. I bought a medium and tried them on. I found out that the belt is attached to an elastic band that pulls out of the shorts if you try to tighten them. I can't wear the small size but the medium won't tighten enough to make me feel secure that they won't fall off if a strong wave came by or if I try to swim laps at the pool.

Another minor inconvenience is that the shorter length is still too long for me and goes past my knee.

A cool thing about these shorts is that they repel water slightly so if you spill something on them or wade in for a minute and get back out, they will still appear dry.
