The Columbia Women’s VIP Softshell Jacket gets you ready for that very important powder day you have planned. This softshell jacket stretches and breathes for comfort that you just can’t get from a hardshell. When spring conditions or a tough hike has you sweating anyway, open up the underarm zips on this Columbia jacket to get more air flowing.

Bottom Line: Trade the red carpet and paparazzi shots for white-blanketed slopes and face shots.

Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

I just got this coat and love it, but I'm concerned about the comfort rating in really cold weather. I don't want to be freezing while sitting on the lift in northern Maine. Anyone tested this out?

i have tested this material and find that with proper layering, you can beat the biggest chills with the eastern humidity as well. when the chair slows or you think you're going to dip in temp, flip up the hood. it is remarkable how it warms up

So far, Excellent!

I bought this jacket because I was tired of the 3-in-1 jackets not providing adequate warmth out in the field. I tested this jacket out in Salt Lake City, where temperatures were in the low to mid 30s during the day and snow was falling on the ground. I was able to walk around with a t-shirt and this jacket on (and pants, duh!) and I was very comfortable and very warm. I absolutely love how warm the pockets are - almost eliminates the need for gloves! No other jacket I have ever owned has ever been this effective, and I have done field work in some awful weather conditions. I will be testing this jacket out again later this month camping where snow is expected to be plentiful - I can't wait to be comfortably warm again!

I am trying to decide between this jacket and the Marmot Reyna.

I am trying to decide between this jacket and the Marmot Reyna. I want a soft shell that is warm for New England winter activities (xc ski).
Does anyone know if the fit is good and how about the shamrock color?

It's a great fit-very comfy and true to size. The length falls mid hip, which is nice. The color is beautiful-a true shamrock green. It's dark, not bright.

Great jacket! Super soft and the fit is just right. Just beware that the winter white does get dirty and shows everything..even though I have tried very hard to keep it clean. True to size.

I really like the look of this jacket but without trying it on

I really like the look of this jacket but without trying it on really want to hear some reviews about fit. I am looking at other jackets, some are interchange, that are much less expensive, I am wondering if this one is worth the extra cost. Thanks!

this is the refined, shapely version of the best selling men's version - -the Wildcard. this piece is soft, stretchy and versatile. there is no sheen or crunch of a shell and no overly-puffy look of a parka.

this is a perfect balance an dit is remarkably breathable and waterproof
