Pick you way through the scrub brush with the Columbia Men's Venture Convertible Pants protecting your shins, and zip the legs off when you need to cross the stream on your way back to camp. Columbia made these convertible pants with quick-drying Omni-Dry fabric and a UPF 50 rating for long days out on the trail where you expect the unexpected. The quick and easy leg zip system turns the Venture Convertible Pant into shorts, which comes in handy on long days on the trail. Whether you spend the day on the trail, or walking through town, the Venture Pant's roomy cargo pockets and zippered hand pockets stow your cell phone, keys, lip balm, or GPS unit.

Bottom Line: Why choose between shorts and pants when you can have both with the Columbia Venture Convertible Pant.

Not good for thin folks

By:
April 5, 2010

These pants are not a bad deal, but they are not great pants, especially for thin folks. The cut is more for those with muscular thighs and butt, which means if you're slender and usually wear 30-32" waist like I do, these pants with not fit you well, which means lots of chafing and catching on stray objects while moving around. If you have a more average-thickness build, they will probably fit you alright.

Good pants

I have a 33" inseam and the M/34 fit me well. These are nice pants for a desert environment - light, durable (so far), and the dirt/dust/sand just kinda blends in.

Write your question here... I wanted to buy my husband some zip-off

Write your question here... I wanted to buy my husband some zip-off pants for Christmas, but he wants cotton and all I can find are nylon. He wants them for traveling and doesn't like the nylon. Anyone know a source for the cotton zip-off pants?

cotton will leave him cold and crabby... try a polyester, since it will regulate temperature better than nylon. See Silver Ridge series

Write your question here... What size should I order? I have

Write your question here... What size should I order? I have tried ordering these very pants from Dick's, twice they misinformed me. I usually take a 38-40 inch waist and a 30-31" inseam. Dick's said a Large with a 32 inch inseam will work...too small! Then they suggested an X-Large waist with a 32" inseam and what I received today was a 32" waist by 32" inseam and yet the purchase ordered indicated that what was sent was an X-Large waist by 32". What do you suggest?

The sizing chart at the top is direct from Columbia and correct. So if you get a XL that will be a 33" inseam. That should do it for you.
