I may have a different pair, but anyway I bought 7 pair of these shorts for work as a uniform short. Great stuff, cell phone fits in the little lower pocket perfectly. Sizing is spot on a 32 is a 32. No issues with these shorts, Columbia did well with these.

The shorts in the picture look like the Columbia Roc II Short, which are a great pair of shorts (I am currently wearing some now) but are pretty similar to the Ultimate Roc Short.

Overall good, not great, shorts. Medium plus weight. Loose fit. Snap opens inadvertently at times. button would be better. Good length and pockets. Utility type shorts - not great for hiking or other active sports.

Columbia gear is often hit or miss...these shorts are a definite hit. True to size. I like them for daily wear...they are a little heavy for hiking, etc.

I am looking for a short that has narrower legs, as everything seems to be the same width at the bottom. I have skinny legs and baggy does not look good. Does anyone know of a Columbia short that is like this?

These are relaxed fit (as a lot of Columbia gear is). If you want an active, outdoors pair of shorts that are somewhat more fitted, I'd look at something from Patagonia, North Face, or Kavu. I have shorts from all three brands that are more fitted in the legs. Be sure to check the fit in the description, though.

The Columbia Harper Trail will suit this request quite handily. it is built to move and stretch without billowing (?)

Love the shorts especially the snap closure. I have difficulty with buttons and these are amazing for me. Very few companies use snaps and these hold closed all day. The fabric is comfortable, great color choices, and true to size.

Normally I'm not a Columbia guy. I got these because of the price and color. The suede looks awesome. These are incredibly comfortable and look really good. I am very happy with them. They are a little bit big, I got the 30's and normally wear that size. One gripe: a snap instead of button. Otherwise... they are perfect. Hit right above the knee.

These shorts are great. Come with a nice water repellant treatment. The small pocket on the left is PERFERT to drop in an iPod Nano, and because of its partially overlapping design, it wont fall out! I dont have any wrinkling issues, just take em out of the dryer promptly and no worries. Think I'm gona grab a couple more pairs.

The Ultimate Roc Short replaces the original Roc Short. The Ultimate Roc Short does not even come close to the quality and durability of the original. The material is very thin, zippers stick, and wrinkles easily. This is not the quility you would expect from Columbia. If you really like the original and you can find them buy them up. Columbia said they are not making the original any longer.

I haven't had any problems with the zippers but they do wrinkle really bad.

I agree the original shorts ROCKED! The heavyweight fabric and the hidden zipper pocket were awesome. They don't make them like they used too.
